Dag these boxers aren't too bright. They let 50 different people get a piece of their dough and they spend money faster than they make it.....sad story.

Dawson probably paid $500 for that dumbass haircut. I'm speculating, but it's easy to see the lifestyle he tries to live. He's a ****tard. Probably doesn't even know the difference between a manager and advisor.

Despite the fact a lot of people hate Dawson as far as his fighting style goes has nothing to do with the fact that he has built his reputation as a humble family man with four kids, a wife, and a nice house in a secluded area. I have no reason to like this dude as a person because he has ruined that rep by the way he doesn't handle business outside of the ring like a man should.

of all the boxers you can look to emulate outside of the ring, floyd mayweather jr is easily the worse

floyd surrounds himself with convicted felons, has the irs watching him and gets sued constantly.....he should try to be like pacquiao who is serving his country as a congressmen which is a job that doesnt pay much but actually makes a difference for his community

I didn't know that Gary Shaw was so shady. This article paints him in a very bad light.

What in the world does this refer to???

(I am informed, though, that Dawson has had some rapprochement with Shaw which came after the promoter agreed to fully provide all past Muhammad Ali and other financial disclosures
                Wat? Muhammad Ali? Huh?

I don't get it. What are they talking about?

As crazy as it is, and as little sense as it makes, there have been more than a few fighters who put up a **** performance just to spite the people who were invested in him.

I dunno if you ever saw Julio Caesar Garcia, but he was a hot young prospect at one point coming out of Mexico, went pro at 16, and already had 40 wins before he was 20 years old.

Then there started being rumors that he wasn't happy with all the people who were taking money from him, and he was tired of fighting so often to keep them happy. He had a fight against some dude named Troy Browning, who was like 40 years old and hadn't fought in 3 years.

Garcia basically showed up and refused to put up much of a fight. Everytime he let his hands go and hurt Browining he would just back off and then give away the rest of the round.

He ended up losing a MD to a guy who shouldn't have lasted 3 rounds with him. Two fights later he fought Danny Garcia and basically quit before it started. He lost every round, barely even tried to win, and hasn't fought since.

And it's before the young fighters prove to be earners. It's a high risk investment and the returns are correspondingly high. They have to be. How many times do you think the promoter hands some kid 20 or 30k or whatever the figure is so the kid can focus exclusively on his career and then the kid turns out to be nothing? You think the promoter gets that money back?

Now I'm not sayin' that the business side of the sport is not rife with skullduggery, but there are 2 sides to every story.

Without the promoters we got no fights to watch and the fighters don't get paid at all.
                      Thank you.

This is what I took away from that article. I didn't read anything about Criscio doing anything wrong in his dealings with Dawson. He invested in Dawson before he was a "star", and is now profiting handsomely. For Dawson to attempt to now disregard his contract with Criscio is pretty scummy. Unless it is an overly onerous contract, but I didn't read anything which makes it seem that way. I assume there is a time limit for how long he is entitled to 10% of Chad's purses.

Criscio took significant risks investing in Dawson early. For every prospect that pans out, there have to be ten busts. Imagine if you were an early investor in Jason Estrada or Fransisco Bojado? For every guy who makes it, there are many guys who fail as a pro due to lack of ability or common sense. So many guys get KTFO when they step up in class, or get arrested for some ****** ****.

Imagine if you invested heavily in one of the Cuban amateur superstars who then proceeded to eat and drink himself out of fighting shape. You get the idea. Crisico took a risky gamble and deserves big profits. I am sure that in the beginning he had to pay for Dawson's expenses, which are considerable for a man who needs to train full time instead of working.

The article is trying to say that Dawson signs contracts without thinking about the future, and then tries to scumbag his way out of them later on when it becomes his turn to pay out. If you follow his career, you can see that he has gotten many lucrative, winnable fights. There are guys (think Glen Johnson or Sakio Bika) who struggle like hell before getting a decent payday, and they wind up fighting against a much more exeperienced fighter, on the road. Dawson has been VERY well handled.

It's true that boxing is filled with shady characters, but that includes some of the BOXERS as well. Tyson let King pry him away from his white/***ish management team by buying into his racist bull**** (his career then fell off a cliff). Don King immediately tried the same thing with Buster Douglas as soon as he upset Tyson. Buster had a contract with a white manager, and Don immediately tried to get him to break his contract by using the race card. Buster wasn't dumb enough to fall for it, but his ignorant father was. His father flat out said he didn't trust white people, that Buster was being cheated and that he needed to go with Don King.

Don King, Gary Shaw, Frank Warren, Bob Arum... these guys are all scum, but so are many of the boxers they prey on. It's the honest promoters, managers, trainers and fighters who fall victim to these guys. Dawson does not fall into this category. The article makes clear he has broken many contracts when he decides he no longer wants to abide by them. The article makes clear he has made a ton of money, but is just too ignorant to hold onto it. If he has $150K to fritter away on a GDed watch, then I guess he is doing OK.

Shaw and Prince may be taking advantage of an ignorant fighter, but it's clear that Dawson has jettisoned some of his early advisors for these clowns. Those guys probably cared about his personal well being a hell of a lot more, so it sounds like he is getting everything he deserves.
