Wasn't Ricky Williams Master P's first client? That has to be the funniest "rapper as manager" story there his. The contract Ricky signed was designed that he would be paid big money, but only if he broke like every existing NFL record. It was the worst contract ever signed. The team actually had to take pity on Ricky and rework the contract.

These guys are tricked and duped and think everything is fine and are told everything is fine and then years later things start to come out.

They are tricked in the beginning as contenders and when they become big stars, guys come to collect their money. When your promised 20,000 when your 20 years old and never seen that kind of money, you take it.

This happens in ALL sports not just boxing. But yea its sad to see this happening to boxers so much.

This has been happening for DECADES, these new fools out here are just plain ****** to continue falling for it, no excuses. NONE.

Just cause you've "never seen 20,000" doesn't automatically mean you take it, only a complete idiot would think that comes free. Dawson is obviously one of the many. Don't talk to me about "He has a family" NOBODY and I mean NOBODY forced him to have a family, that was his choice, he has to live with it. People with kids, wife, etc can't expect to get handouts/sympathy/remorse just because.

He wants to live like a rap star? Well, he's well on his way, cause just like a lot of them, he'll be broke, forgotten, and exposed within a year...

As crazy as it is, and as little sense as it makes, there have been more than a few fighters who put up a **** performance just to spite the people who were invested in him.

I dunno if you ever saw Julio Caesar Garcia, but he was a hot young prospect at one point coming out of Mexico, went pro at 16, and already had 40 wins before he was 20 years old.

Then there started being rumors that he wasn't happy with all the people who were taking money from him, and he was tired of fighting so often to keep them happy. He had a fight against some dude named Troy Browning, who was like 40 years old and hadn't fought in 3 years.

Garcia basically showed up and refused to put up much of a fight. Everytime he let his hands go and hurt Browining he would just back off and then give away the rest of the round.

He ended up losing a MD to a guy who shouldn't have lasted 3 rounds with him. Two fights later he fought Danny Garcia and basically quit before it started. He lost every round, barely even tried to win, and hasn't fought since.

That was such a great story , hey anything is possible. Its info like this that makes BS worth my membership.

Its been known that Chad Dawson aint the sharpest tool in the shed. He wants to live like a rap star and have big houses and bling bling so what these promoters / leeches do is show him a good time, take him shopping, have his picture taken everywhere and he thinks hes living the high life. Should do your research Chad before giving out 50%+ of yourself to lowlife scum who dont care about anything except getting their $$$. Wow at the $20,000, thats all that it took? Heres a tip for boxers : Dont get involved with shady people who own pawn shops / music "producers" hell even anyone in music business / celebrities because they dont give a crap about you homie and you were too ****** to see that and fell for their tricks. Im speechless to see people signing their life away without doing research.

It is sad most fighters don't have business minded friends who can help and advise on finances but with alot of backgrounds financial advisors are not abundant. Most fighters friends are more worried about staying alive and surviving them selves than investing for the future. Too bad dawson doesn't have any intelligent people around him who love him enough to handle his finances. Where is honest Don King when you need him??

Actually IMO its not sad because these grown men need to stop being so damn ******. I mean so of the stuff they do doesn't require a lot sense to see that it is a studip a$$ move. Very detailed contracts is one thing but some of that other stuff is out of greed and being ******. So if you want to make a dumb decision rushing and being greedy that is what you get.

The manager is supposed to look after the fighter and make sure nobody is trying to **** him, here it looks like Shaw and Criscio are in bed together trying to squeeze the fighters. No surprise this is going on and Angulo has the same manager.

Some guys fighting though skilled and world class boxers are still lacking in intelligence in business matters and finance and are basically ignorant on investing their winnings wisely. It is sad there is no boxing commission that would provide an over- seer someone with financial accume to help some of these poor clueless souls survive financially. I am sorry to read about squandered fortunes and mismanaged financial futures. Doesn't Dawson have a mom and dad or an uncle with a brain?
