At this point, you're right. But 2-3 years ago, when Arreola was in the 230-245 range, he was quite formidable. If he had remained consistent, and even trimmed down a few pounds, he would've been quite a formidable challenge for any heavyweight.

You can go 10 rounds with a champion level boxer hitting you in the face the whole time?

I mean the guy doesn't look very good but neither do NFL offensive linemen(in fact a lot of them outweigh Chris by 100 pounds) and they are in tramendous shape.

Could Arreola be fitter? Yes but I think it's ****** when people see him and think that he never trains at all and he sits on the couch eating potato chips like everyone else on this forum.

Trust me the guy gets plenty of exercise just not enough for an elite level boxer is all.

Being in shape has nothing to do with getting punched in the face. David Tua is fat as hell but he has (had) a great chin even when he was out of shape.

That wasn't my question. Are you in as good "cardiovasculer" shape as Chris or do you just look better? I know guys at my boxing gym that look like male models but make them go more than 4 rounds and they are huffing and puffin like they just ran a marathon.

He went 10 rounds with Adamek and didn't look anymore tired than any normal in shape boxer.

I believe it would benefit him. At the weight he is at now certain moves tend to tire him out so he is there always in front of your face. If he was more athletic then he would be able to slip punches constantly instead of walking in with no head movement. Also he would be able to get in and out of exchanges. Him being overweight restricts everything athletic related which is why he is a come forwared slugger. Now I wouldnt want him to become dehydrated zombie like where it effects his punch resistance. Just want his weight to come down enough for him to equip certain moves.

I mean he is very relaxed in the ring and has great confidence in his chin, so he has pretty good stamina

If anything the weight lets him absorb blows from MUCH MUCH bigger men, and probably attributes to his power.

I mean, I just can't see him taking 12 rounds worth of HARD shots for Adamek had he been 50 pounds lighter, u kno?

And either way, He isn't beating a Klitschko or a Haye
Interesting post. I think there's something to be said for the idea that his weight helps him to absorb shots better. The same thing happened to Foreman in his comeback, though I'm not sure of the exact reasons. I disagree that it helps him with his power however. Arreola's technique has always struck me as being very poor, and he doesn't seem to be able to get his weight into shots like he should. Look at his overhand right for example. He basically just leans to the side and sticks his arm out. As a result he loses most of the momentum that can be generated from the shot and which takes a lot off his power, IMO. Weight can contribute to power if you use it properly, but I don't think Arreola knows how. One thing losing weight will definitely improve is his mobility. He's far too plodding which makes him a sitting duck for any of the better boxer/mover types.

Arreola does have good stamina for a fat guy, but so long as a large proportion of his training camp is dedicated to weight loss that's time that could be better spent honing his skills or formulating a better gameplan. He'll never be James Toney skills-wise, but if he could get himself down to a reasonable weight and stay there, he'd substantially improve his chances in the ring and improve his health as well.

                    NO!

Chris lacks BOXING SKILLS! he is a Knockout Artist NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS, if he doesn't score the KO then he will lose, Vitali and Tomasz boxed circles around him, Vitali just let him run into his jab all night

Chris is fun to watch if you match him up with the right fighters but if you put him in with a fighter with boxing skills then he will lose

Or guys who do exercise some and have some definition in their bodies who have this dillusional notion that they are top level athletes.
