If ARREOLA got RIPPED... He still Wouldnt have a Chance...

People knock on Arreola all the time for his weight but... It doesnt really make a difference.

I mean he is very relaxed in the ring and has great confidence in his chin, so he has pretty good stamina

If anything the weight lets him absorb blows from MUCH MUCH bigger men, and probably attributes to his power.

I mean, I just can't see him taking 12 rounds worth of HARD shots for Adamek had he been 50 pounds lighter, u kno?

And either way, He isn't beating a Klitschko or a Haye

Are you dumb? Imagine if Miguel Cotto was 300 lbs. he would suck. Why would boxers even bother working out if it makes no difference!? OMG.

I agree to an extent. If all he does is train to lose weight, he's going to do worse, however if he'd stop getting huge between fights, that wouldn't happen. His best weight is around 235. He can't make that weight anymore it seems, so now he's just training to lose weight before every fight.

Interesting theory, and although I disagree with it I like it when people take chances with their posts as it usually leads to interesting discussions.

I do agree with you that training hard will not automatically result in becoming a superstar. But it does help with performance and stamina, both being important attributes for successful boxers.

Also, weight does not give someone power. Power comes from technique, balance, momentum and strength, and having an excessive amount of body fat does not positively contribute to any of these factors.

And you act like Chris doesn't train at all. For an athlete he's out of shape but for your everyday person he's in excellent condition. I doubt that there is a person that is in as good of shape as Chris Arreola on this entire message board.

So you're defending Arreola by saying him being overweight helps him "defensively"?

No matter how you try to spin it a lighter Arreola is a more mobile and more offensive and overall better Arreola. There's no excuse for him being overweight.

I wouldn't go that far. I would bet I'm in substantially better shape than he is, and I'm sure there are others on here as well that are in better shape.
