Lucian Bute Will Avoid Dawson Like The Plague

Bute can't duck Dawson. They are not in the same division. If Cunningham calls out Dawson but wants to fight him at cruiser, would you say Chad is ducking him if he doesn't take the fight? If Chad agrees to go to 168 and Bute refuses the fight, it's ok to say he's ducking Dawson though.


I would like to see Bute-Dawson at 170. I know some of you are not fans of catchweights, but in this situation I believe both guys would be at their best at that weight.

This is the way I see it, its an interesting fight but no shame if he doesn't want to fight the best fighter in the world in the division north of him.

Jean Pascal had no problem moving from 168 to 175 for bigger fights against tougher opponents.

No, Bute does not have to do the same, but it shows how little he desires a real challenge that he is not willing to make a fight that could propel him into the top 5 p4p in the entire world. Especially when his fellow Canadian fighter was willing to do exactly that.

Dawson is physically no bigger or stronger than Bute regardless of what weight divisions they fight in. Bute would not be at any real disadvtantage were he to fight Dawson and only come in at 170 lbs.

Also, if Bute beats Dawson at 175 it doesn't mean he has to stay there for the rest of his career.

He would still have a year before the Super 6 was over after a Dawson fight, plenty of time to get back down to 168 and continue his run in that division.

People just love to make excuses for this guy, I don't get it. He has never beatean anymore worth a damn and shows no intention of fighting anyone worth a damn.

When Andre Ward wins the Super 6 he isn't gonna waste his time with this heartless chump Bute, he will do like a real fighter would and move up to 175 to fight Dawson and prove he is one of the very best in the world against an opponent who has actually beaten opponents with a pulse.

I don't know why Dawson's team would even bother throwing Bute's name out there. The guy obviously doesn't want a challenge, he is happy to stay in Canada and fight bums.

He is the Canadian version of Calzaghe.

Even if Dawson agreed to starve himself to 168 and come to Canada; Team Bute still would not answer their phones when Shaw and Dawson come calling.

5 years from now Bute will probably challenge a fighter who has a chance of beating him, but it surely won't be any time soon.

If you knew **** about boxing you would know that Pascal is a natural 168'lber just like Bute is. Pascal, unlike Bute, had the sack to move up in weight to take tougher fights that would garner him more respect.

While he's frozen outta the tournament, Bute needs opponents. Steiglitz and Bika are really the only guys left outside the super 6 until the tournament is over. If he could get Dawson at 175, no reason for him not to move up, unless he just feels he won't be equally effective at the weight. Bute don't strike me as a fighter who's happy to milk a paper belt.

I see Bute is getting no respect. The guy has skillz and I doubt he ducks dawson when he could easily get that fight in canada and on HBO. What happens if he loses? Go back to selling out the arenas in canada against "bums"? Not a bad alternative imo.
