Lewis could of taken a round or two off, there is no way to say that Lewis could of or would of not been able to continue with 6 more rounds in the book. Vitali did not look like a spring chicken at the end of the 6th either. He was sucking wind and was visibly tired. Vitali, not Lewis, has the history of getting tired down the stretch. He starts sucking wind after 6 and breathing with his mouth wide open, as he did in round 6.

There honestly is no way to predict what might have been. Who knows, Vitali could have landed the finishing punch while Lennox was trying to take a round off. That is why the should have rematched. One thing for sure is that we are still debating it and will probably forever. What fighter doesn't get tired at some point in a boxing match. I don't remember Vitali having a history of tiring out in any fight except for the Williams fight that Vitali still won in one of the most onesided fights in recent memory.

He told me that I left out the fact that Holyfield also sued at the time over the WBA making Ruiz the mandatory when he was owed the spot. Lewis had two trials trying to halt the Grant bout, one brought on by King and Ruiz, one by Tua. Lennox lost both, kept one title (IBF) and was stripped of the other (WBA). The guy could not fight three challengers at the same time.

Here are some links for you, courtesy of me. I forgot that Lewis made plans to face Ruiz in July and Don King'John Ruiz said NO, he said next or strip him. King did not want the July date, in case Grant upset Lewis. They demanded that Lewis get stripped, instead Tua got the next fight.

whats wrong? lewis has a policy of having more than two fights a year? he cant give the mandatories a title shot in the alotted 180 day time limit?

if he cant do that, what the hell kind of champion is he?

zab judah doesnt seem to have a problem defending his unified titles several times a year...

if lewis is as good as you say he is, then he could have given the shots in the 6 months, wiped them all out like he did in REALITY, and continue on with all belts intact.

oh, i forgot. lewis is one of those champions who likes to take long vacations rather than defend his title. my bad.

EX-boxing champ Lennox Lewis spent the first night of his Jamaican honeymoon ducking and diving from Hurricane Emily.

"could not fight three challengers at the same time"?

ok. the "best HW of this era" cant take 3 challengers at the same time?

show me one heavywieght with all the belts inthe last 20 years that has hung on to all three belts as long as lewis?

youre talking **** mate, supopse you want him to dfend his title every 2 months or so then?

Viali has been so active of course taking on the cream of a very poor division NOT. Bloke cant clean his teeth without pulling a rotator cuff and being sidelined for 3 months.

amazing people slated lewis for being inactive but conveniently forget that Vit has had 3 fights in 24 months agianst fat Kirk Johnson and Danny williams and reasonable semi retired golf pro Corrie Sanders.

                way to go hey.
                ****inell sometimes i despair.

Don't force me to get a copy of the lawsuit papers, I'm sure they are floating online. King wanted Ruiz to face Lewis NEXT, not in July as Lewis tried to come to terms with. The July date would of been "90" days after the April Grant bout. He faced Botha in July instead and Tua in November, three defenses in one year. Now Lewis is the bad guy for facing the man that knocked out Ruiz in 19 seconds, instead of Ruiz? Lets not forget Evander had his lawsuit over Ruiz being the top contender, which led to their bout for the vacant belt. Then Tua's lawsuit to "strip" Lewis, which did not work and they agreed to fight before the end of the year.
