Ok numbers, I think Marquez can do better if he had a better opponent, Allot of people didn't buy this because we all knew Marquez was going to win.

Aslong as they made money on it it was probably worth it, people forget 300k is not a bad ppv number aslong as they are only paying a few million for the main event so 200k ish for an event that was marginal at best is a pretty good base.
It sucks though because I like JMM and he will probably only be on PPV now but that is good for him because he deserves the paydays.Comment

No sir. Mayweather vs Marquez did 1 million. Marquez has a following, but fans turn out more in the bigger fights. For "Numero Uno" Marquez played a big role in the numbers. These numbers are not bad for a complete **** fight.Comment

How is this possible? After all, the experts on this message board declared Marquez the star when he fought Mayweather and said it was Marquez who was responsible for generating 1 million PPV buys, not Mayweather. How is it possible that Marquez can go from 1 million PPV with a "boring runner" like Mayweather and only generate 200,000 against an all-action fighter in Diaz?
Wait. Is it possible that Mayweather was the star and the reason why the PPV sold so well? If so, that would mean that all the experts/haters on this site were wrong and we all know that *******s are never wrong!!!
Marquez is coming off a lopsided loss, fighting a guy he already knocked out, in a PPV fight that was not marketed in the least. No 24/7, no commercials, nothing. I'd say that's a pretty good pull considering it wasn't really a PPV worthy fight. Mayweather-Marquez had like 6 months of high end advertising because of Money's 'rib injury' and Floyd fighting Manny's 'rival' and then setting up a superfight with him afterwards added to the luster. It's like comparing apples and oranges. How was the 24/7 for Marquez-Diaz? How many times did you see commercials for it on TV? Did the Sportscenter crew hype it up? See my drift?
200K buys for this fight is nice pull and is good for the sport because it shows that fans are willing to dish out $50 to see guys like Diaz who don't have a fraction of the hype of guys like Floyd, Pacquiao, Cotto, etc. And it means GBP, Top Rank, HBO, etc might be more willing to put together solid cards and gamble on them instead of just focusing on the megafights.
Everyone wins if this trend continues.Comment

you guys are ******, put marquez vs someone like khan, hatton, or any big name that marquez has a chance to make history and it will do big numbers, its funny how most of you idiots forgot how meaningless this fight was in the first place, so 200k is pretty impressiveComment
-
I agree with you that Marquez vs Khan would do great number s
but this 150-200 K aint impressive to me cuz he had like 100 K with Casamayor and back then it was terrible undercard ,it was GBP PPV not HBO PPV,and in this PPV Oscar De La Hoya invest serious money in undercard!
So 50 K more is nothing if you have Golden Child on undercard,Linares,Casamayor,Guerrero,Juarez!Comment

Are people gonna agree that Floyd was the reason the PPVs for the JMM doing so good when they fought?Comment
