Claims of dollars over legacy among fighters who make millions every fight are just convenient explanations for doing what one really wants to do.

If money's so important why didn't Floyd accept the biggest payday of his career?

Seriously don't understand where you're coming from with this thread, you're looking like a str8 up apologist.

Everybody is right in this case. I mean really PBF does care about his legacy or he wouldn't talk all the **** he talks about being the best ever to do it. Fighting the best gives you a great legacy and usually brings you the most money. It is truly no matter what the fans say a fighters job first and foremost to get the most money they can get. Nobody here can tell any man or woman what amount of money is acceptable to them.

We can say so and so is a ***** duck chicken b!itch because they wouldn't take the fight but are you the samething if you quit your job because they said now they will only pay you min. wage?

There are plenty of fighters that didn't earn $100 million and are fine. Hagler earnt around the same as Hearns maybe less and he is fine with an incredible legacy.

Barry Mcguigan didn't earn huge money maybe £10 million possibly less? He doesn't have financial problems, ******ity makes you broke, not legacy.
            This ^^^^

The thread starter is trying to make a point by using examples that have nothing to do with his premise. The people mentioned, Tyson especially, went broke because of their lack of self control, over-indulgence, and plain ******ity, they didn't go broke because they fought for "legacy". Not a very good way to make a point.

As to the general premise that professional fighters fight for money and not legacy, yes, that's true but only to a certain extent. If you are guy who is trying to pay the bills and has yet to make it big, then the answer is yes. What about if you are already rich? I mean say you are Klitschko and you already have over $50-$100 million banked, certainly enough to last 10 generations of his offspring. Are you still fighting for money then? Or are you fighting for something greater?

Right, so why not fight? the money is there, the legacy is there.....

The only conclusion that anyone can legitimately come to is that the guy didn't believe he could win the fight.

If this is in regard to Floyd he has more then enough money now. He can fight me and make 20 Million.

                Same for Pacquiao.

Of course it's in relation to Floyd, Larry has had to witness his idol demonstrate his cowardice in front of the whole world so is forced to make some sort of indirect excuse because it's easier than handling the reality that he's scared of losing to the little guy.
