i never been too impressed with Jacobs anyway his KO ratio is good because of the caliber of opponent he has been in with never saw anything in him that was remotely special

pirog on the other hand looks like a problem
No I never said that. I think he had nothing but easy fights that did nothing for him (as far as getting him ready for world class competition) and ran into a style that he wasn't prepared for. My issues lie with the progression (tomato can, tomato can........then elite talent) and I felt his handlers should have given him better fights prior to this.

This is my point. He faced guys that we nothing but look good fights for him and didn't give him looks that help him against top competition and it showed. He had a look of confusion during the first round or Second round of the fight.

I will go ahead an take an "L" on this one..lol but I just don't like the poor progression and lack of fighters in most of these prospect 1-10 or 1-15 fights that will help them in the future. It think it boils down to a team understanding their fighting and taking the fights that will help them excel prior to them stepping up in competition. Look for this trend to continue in boxing and more and more young guys get exposed. Then people will wonder why this is happening all of the sudden when a lot of this could have been prevent due to proper preparation.

Again I'll just take an L on this thread and leave it alone for now. FWIW I have felt this way for a while as far as how poor prospects are being brought a long as compare to 5-10 years ago. I'm not just saying this because of Jacobs getting his ass handed to him.

Whether he fought Pirog this year or 5 years from now he wouldve go his ass berat the same way. Possibly even worse. Danny Jacobs is NOT a good fighter. I see nothing in him at all.

I knew he was losing this fight. Pirog is faster, more athletic and more accurate then he is. Hes just all around better than Jacobs. Its not like Pirog was 45-0 hes a guy with only 16 fights.

GBP is terrible with up and coming fighters.

Is not cherry picking or fight the best when you're a prospect.

              Is about taking steps.

You can't fight an a whole bunch of bums and D- level fighters and then jump up to b level fighters. That is not a way you bring up a prospcet.

I am not going to say that Jacobs-Pirog was terrible matchmaking. Maybe it was or maybe the previous jacobs fights were terrible matchmaking cuz he didn't take the gradual step up in comp to get him ready for Pirog.

Look at Deontay Wilder. A tomato can after tomato can. And, what they will do with him is he will keep fighting tomato cans, and bums. And, then they will step him up with a B level fighter. And, everybody would say what is the big deal is better than cherry picking.

But, is not about that. Is bout stepping up to fight D level fighters, then when you look good against D level fighters, step up to fight C level fighters, then fight b level fighters until you ready for the elite.

That is how you bring up a prospect. GBP still haven't figured that out yet. Top Rank is still the best in bringing up prospects. I would also put Thompson Boxing promotions, TKO boxing, and Prizefight over GBP in bringing up prospects.

Did you see the look of confusion on Jacobs face early on in the fight? You can tell he has never seen that type of style and the things Pirog brought to that fight. I don't think Jacobs is over and he has a chance to be good, but I wish he would have faced looks that would have prepared him better than he was for this fight. Lets say you have never faced a slick fighter before. You don't have your step fight against a style like that especially for a world title.

This is the reason a guy like Corley is on a lot of fighters resume. He isn't elite but I believe he is the best C class fighter around the 140-147 range that will prepare you for southpaws. There are tons of guys like that and I feel Jacobs team should have scouped up guys who would better prepare him. Dude looked like a deer in front of headlights and there is a reason for that is all I'm saying.

Who wouldnt look like a deer in headlights with Pirog's style. NO ONE in boxing fights like that.

Two prospects went at it. One got KO'd. Its boxing.
