    Terrible match making by GBP.......

In all honest whoever is in charge of the match making at GBP needs to be fired/replaced. While it's reasonable that the typical boxing fan may have been caught off guard by Pirog, it's a match makers responsibility to avoid putting inexperience and up and coming fighters against guys like that. That guys style was all wrong for Jacobs at this point in his career and this is as dumb as the decision to put Ortiz in with hard hitting Maidana (considering Ortiz had issues with his chin in various sparring sessions).

Now I'm not saying to duck these guys or even avoid them all together, rather you build guys up until they are actually ready for these type of opponents. This takes fully knowing what type of fighter you have and where he is at development wise and you just don't randomly pit him against any guy. This is why guys like Trampler and Goodman are the best in the business, and the guys at GBP are pretty much chumps when it comes to building fighters.

I don't think so. Jacobs has been fighting his fair amount of stiffs coming up. It was about time he stepped up.

    Why not Pirog?

I think the crappier matchmaking was Juarez/Linares, Guerrero/Casa. Those fights were obvious mismatches where the underdog had a 5% chance of winning.

Pirog/Jacobs was actually competitive till Jacobs got caught.

This was for the vacant WBO middleweight title - GBP thought that Jacobs was ready for it, though you can't choose who's number 2/3 in the rankings and therefore gonna take the fight...

What do GREATS DO?? They beat and fight whoever gets put in front of them no matter what style.

I rather praise Golden Boy for CHALLENGING their fighters than CHERRY PICKING by Top Rank.

You people need to make up your minds. You want boxers to be challenged yes or no in order to prove that they have it??

I was thinking that earlier tonight as wel.. but the more I think about it and the more I look at the way Diaz fought tonight the more I think Diaz was just there for a payday and will retire unless he can get another payday and go on to law school or wahteevr.. The guy had no chance of outboxing Marquez but he decided from round 1 to try and fight him from the outside.. he was just looking not to get knocked out and collect his money..
