Roy was great, he wasn't perfect. The same flashy style that overwhelmed so many does not overwhelm someone I believe has the most skill set in the ring in a long long time.
Roys reflexes are greater than Floyds in his prime, Floyd is going to have hell trying to find Roy.

Floyd on the other hand is more defensive than elusive, and while he goes into his shoulder roll defense... it just isn't going to work.

You can shoulder roll Baldomir... but Roy Jones throwing 12 punch combinations faster than anything you've seen?

    Goodluck Floyd.

Also Roy has better length, and could keep Floyd at bay a lot easier than Floyd could.

P4P, floyd is too clever and defense to too good. also working his offense of his defense, i think he would make roy look extremely normal.

it would be a close fight but i think that floyd would cut roys workrate like he does everyone. making roy think about what he does be before doing.

i think that floyd would get in roys head and make it more mental for roy

Roy didn't have a high workrate, he thought about what he did before doing it anyway.

Guys, Roy fought someone very comparable to Floyd in Toney. The reverse doesn't hold true. If anything, it would be Floyd who would be second guessing himself.

I wouldn't come at you like that.

But look at what you said.

But counterpunching is floyd's strength and thats maybe how he wins.

Was counterpunching not Roys strength as well?

Add on to the fact, better reflexes, faster handspeed, and p4p much more power... How is Floyd going to out counter Roy?

Just not happening.
yes but toney is no floyd.

toney is great and all but got hit alot for a defensive wizard.

            floyd>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.toney.

Roy was unbeatable in his prime, while Floyd lost once in his prime(JLC)

Roy KOed Virgil Hill who was undisputed Cruiserweight Champion for a LONG time
Roy defeat James Toney, who was P4P #1 and in his prime(Weight control is no excuse, Toney always had problems with weight control)
Roy embarrased Reggie Johnson who was a strong champion.
Roy embarrased John Ruiz who was three weight classes above him and still gave other good Heavyweights trouble due to his clinching style
Roy despite having to cut weight in such a short time was still able to defeat Antonio Tarver in their first fight.

              Floyd's best wins were against

              Arturo Gatti(Prime)
              Genaro Hernandez(Past prime I think)
              Angel Manfredy(Gave Gatti problems)
              Diego Corrales(Diego was KOing everybody)
Zab Judah(Zab was in his prime and gave him trouble)
Oscar De La Hoya(at 154, past prime but still was dangerous)
Ricky Hatton(Prime, the man at 140)

I think Jones's resume is better.
Floyd never lost. your ASSumptions that he lost once are worthless. roy got ko'd by tarver. everyone started saying he's past his prime only after the fight not before. I choose Mayweather Im sure he'll know when to retire from boxing too

Actually, Toney is a great fighter himself and has a better resume than Floyd. I'm not saying he's greater but facts are facts. Floyd isn't that much greater, if at all. And Jones shut him out.

everything toney did, floyd does better plus has more tools in his belt.

many but to say that toney is a better fighter than floyd is laughable.

to say that toney has a better defense than floyd is extremely laugable
