The point is that the negotiations died before they began. Meaning as soon as terms were proposed. There were no further discussions, nothing. And since neither side refused to budge, there was never any point to continue negotiations. So while conversations were had a week or two after May-Mosley - with Greenburg playing middle man - there were no real negotiations. In fact, had Arum not pretended as if he were in discussions with GBP, this wouldn't have been an issue.

Second, the Margarito who beat up Cotto probably doesn't exist. His last fight against Garcia was very, very unimpressive. And Garcia, for lack of a better term, sucks. It's unfair to say "When Mosley actually had something left" and then pretend as if Margarito didn't take more punches against Cotto & Mosley back to back then most fighters do their whole career.
