First real test for Vanes IMO could put him on the p4p map.

Even though Cotto does deserve to pick what he wants because he is a warrior, but damn c'mon Cotto que pasa?
Yeap, That's how I see it. The problem is that if Cotto is thinking of a Pacman II fight he needs to get ready for that and although there is nobody out there that can prep you for a fight against Pacman, Berto is the closest one. On the other hand Cotto will not be Pacman's 1st option while PBF is still around, so why think and wait for a fight that might never happen??
Cotto should go on with his career, fight good winable names (Berto, Angulo) and build his value up again. That there will be risk? Of course, same as Vanes is a decent fighter, but will not bring nothing to Cotto's credit and much less wont help raise Cotto's value again. Hell, it might not even be on HBO!!

A win over Vanes even in KO fashion will be less value for Cotto, then a close hard fought brawl against Berto even in a close defeat.

Thinking it through i believe it can b Top Rank. Cotto never came out and turned down fight like that. Unless he has really good reason for it. Maybe he is letting himself and his body heal a little better from his past wars. Maybe Steward told him it would be for his best interest. I believe its either that or he isn't trying to war again until his next big fights!! I can respect that!!

Berto style would make Cotto look OLD, he knows it, Steward knows it and Bob Arum knows it, Berto is a dangerous young fighter with great hand speed

fighting Vanes Martirosyan over Berto is not even acceptable but people will make excuses for it, if anything why not let Vanes Martirosyan and Andre Berto fight then the winner gets Cotto while Cotto is "Healing"

Bob Arum is a match maker, when he let his fighters fight outside of Top Rank he will give them opponents he knows his fighters can beat, it is laughable to see people say Cotto will do this or that against Berto but yet Cotto is "not interested" in fighting him

I Co-Sign this. If it is what he is doing is sitting around he will stay waiting, as you said, the fight might never happen. A couple more good fights WILL be great for Cotto before going. So why not start with Berto? Angulo is also great becase its like fighting Margarito, but without the plaster, so I am up for that one to see if my boy Cotto is back!!

NO that only applies to Mayweather according to them lol

they will make a ton of excuses for Cotto:

"he is letting his body heal"
"Berto is not a draw anyway" but Vanes Martirosyan is? but Foreman was?
