    Williams targets Pac... wtf?

Anyone else get a bad taste in their mouth from the thought of paul williams "blasting" pacquiao in this article?

i honestly don't know if manny could beat him (i sort of doubt it) but if anyone should be challenging anyone else to show he's tough, it's manny who should be challenging paul.

paul williams is a 6'1 middleweight/junior middleweight. he hasn't fought at 147 since june 2008, back when pacquiao was fighting the likes of diaz at 135! now he's telling the world he would destroy manny? imagine if klitschko sent out a press release saying he would destroy cruiserweight champ steve cunningham? or if sergio martinez challenged floyd mayweather?

paul looks like a punk saying this crap. he should be challenging martinez, or sturm, or if he wants some easy money, maybe a guy like chavez jr.

It looks bad as he already has a razor thin victory over the MW champion but now wants to fight a natural LW who is so good he can be an elite WW.

BTW, he is bigger than 6'1 more like 6'3-6'4.

exactly. fighting pacquiao might get a lot of casual fans to notice him, but in the wrong way. i think beating him would add little or nothing to his reputation.

I wouldn't consider it much of a win against a guy who is walking around at maybe the low 140s where as PWill couldn't be less than the upper 160's if he is coming into fights at 166 on FN.

Pac was walking around in the low 150's with low body-fat according to Freddie Roach while he prepared for the Oscar fight. his actual fight-time weight is around 147.

Williams won a title at 147, and if he can still make it, why not.

Others have avoided the fight with him like Mosley and Mayweather from what is said. So you are either the same as those two or...

Here is something else since we are talking about "Great" fighters and matchups. If Williams is a bad-matchup for Pac based on size, how can Pac ever be greater than other fighters like Sam Langford, Barbados Joe Walcott, even Tyson, Holyfield, Chris Byrd, and many others that didn't bother to care about "size"...both in height and weight?

I'm not sure he was 166 on fight-night at 147. But at this point, it might not matter. I'm not sure Williams can even make 147 and be healthy anymore. If that fight were to come off, to make sure both fighters are "healthy," it would be better to have it at 154. So, basically, I doubt it happens. And Pac doesn't have to budge from the WW division.

He would still be beating Pac and that means possibly future big pay-days because of the hype that surrounds you.

Just imagine the HW division fighters saying "no" to matchups based on height and weight differences. That's why in the end, the HW division is truly King. And to me, the best of his era, the best of all time, should really be a HW only. And the rest for rankings we can add in the other guys but make sure you put a handicap sign up there with the "P4P"

Pac is tiny and adding on muscle, if he was so big he wouldn't be coming into weigh ins a few pounds less than WW limit looking like he just ate a meal.

A better idea would be PWill fighting Sergio in a rematch or some guys, you know his size.

If he can make the weight he can fight but a win over Pac has to be minimized by such a size difference.

Floyd was doing the same pre-retirement.

Again, how can Pac ever be compared to the likes of Sam Langford or ever be put above guys that fought in the HW division that were out-weighed and smaller in height than his opponent?

It would be a fantastic win for Pac if it happened, but to bad only hardcore fans would appreciate it because PWill, even though he puts on plenty of good fights is still not well known.

As far as ranking in terms of ATGs, I don't because I am not 90 years old and would need to have seen, scored, and analyzed tens of thousands of fights to accurately make a list like that.

                    And Clottey was???

You know that's the excuse Floyd gives.

You either fight the best or you have to admit, like Floyd does, that you are all about the money. And, carefully match-make.

In order to get known you tend to have to be in big fights and continue to be in those big fights. If all those names that he has called out would have taken his offer, maybe his name would be bigger by name.

Either way, we know some of the details and no way can guys like Pac and Floyd ever be greater than the likes of Sam Langford in that regard. Or even respected in some manner like other guys that have stepped up to the plate and didn't care how big you were...like Holyfield didn't for example.
