Hahahahaha. I feel exactly the same way. I think I'm going to join the group of posters who just don't care anymore if the fight is made or not. They've been at it for nearly a year now. Back and forth they go...

#1 - What would Arum gain in lying? Wouldn't he just hurt himself and the negotiations if he made up some story like this?

#2 - It took all this time to say there were no negotiations on Ellerby's part? Why not say something when the supposed deadline was looming?

It sounds to me as if Mayweather has no interest in fighting Pacquaio now or maybe even never. It's really sad because this was the fight the world wanted to see, the fight that would bring back boxing to the mainstream.
what do you mean Arum wouldn't lie.....didn't he lie about the last time too...Didn't he say the last time that 14 days wasn't offered and then come back and say it was later. of cousre he would lie! his motto is yesterday i was lieing and today i'm telling the truth!

By Paul Strauss: After fans read the transcript of Arum's conference call, they will be forced to remember Arum is an attorney. He is used to providing information that is accurate, concise, and entirely irrelevant. Arum managed to avoid answering all of the important questions, and kept apologizing for the plight of poor Floyd and his uncle Roger, who possibly faces some prison time for allegedly assaulting a woman.

When Arum was asked if he knows why Floyd hasn't agreed to the fight? He answered no, but asks fans to be sympathetic. Arum would like fans to believe poor Floyd, Jr., who has been fighting all his life, might have to train without his uncle Roger, and that's something he doesn't want to do. Heavens to mergatroid! Floyd must be scared to death about the possibility. Give me a break. Floyd has repeatedly said he and Roger do not formulate a fight plan. The truth is little Floyd knows the training regimen by heart. He could do it in his sleep. Finally, he can get just about anyone (maybe his Dad) to unleash a string of obscenities now and again so he will feel at home.

When Arum was asked if he believed the blood testing issue was resolved? He said he thought so, but hasn't received specific confirmation of that fact. He assures readers that Floyd must have a legitimate reason (a different reason, i.e.absence of Roger) for not making the fight.

When Arum was asked if he really thinks Margarito deserves the fight? He said, he wouldn't get into that until the fight is made, and then he suggests reporters can editorialize about it. Least you forget, Arum believes Margarito is innocent of any wrong doing.

Apparently, Arum thinks another fight with Cotto would work, not necessarily because it would be the best fight out there for fans, but because it would give Manny another title in another weight class. If that were the case, they could have previously made a fight with Yuri Foreman when he held the title. Oh, and Arum implies that Emanuel Stewart, as Cotto's new trainer, might make a big difference. Well, fans know Stewart is a great trainer, but he would be the first one to tell fans that he can't make Miguel any faster, or teach him how take a punch any better?

Finally, Arum suggests that he can't sell a fight between Manny and many of the other fighters because fans haven't heard of them. You know, fighters like Andre Berto, Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan, Devon Alexander, and maybe even Marcos Maidana. Right! No one has ever heard of them. Certainly no one has ever heard of Paul Williams, or Sergio Martinez. You couldn't possibly sell a fight with them!

Just how many lawyers (promoters) does it take to change a light bulb? None, they'd rather keep their clients (fans) in the dark.

this is nothing....the Hatton fight was much longer and just as harsh as this war amongst fans. They are actually similar in some regards except hatton wasn't some pretenders who acted like he wanted a fight with Floyd right away

Vivek Wallace: For more than 7 months now, the world of boxing has been held captive at the mercy of Floyd Mayweather jr. and Filipino phenom Manny Pacquiao. The evolution of this 'captivity' has seen unconfirmed allegations, questioned regulations, testing complications, and one stiff revelation. That one revelation is the fact that only one thing in boxing truly outweighs politics.....and that one thing is egos. In the case of Floyd Mayweather jr., there are no secrets. No facade. No catch. Despite being a great friend of famed New York City rapper 50-Cent, his demeanor is best captured by quoting west coast rapper Snoop Dogg, as without question, his "mind's on the money, and the money's on [his] mind". With Pacquiao, the squeaky clean image of the sports most spirited warrior blinds some to the fact that he's a "prize fighter" too, and concessions like money, weight, etc. are equally part of his ultimate strategy in negotiations, as well.

As many obstacles as we've seen in these negotiations since they began back in December of '09, the intriguing thing at this point is that the ever-resistant party (Team Pacquiao) has actually agreed in principle to the terms disclosed. Or have they? Seems nothing about this negotiation is ever etched in stone, and this false impression could very well be part of that trend.. There's a blind belief that the ball is back in Team Mayweather's court to sign the dotted line of a completed contract, but what was never disclosed by the only party that seems to be talking (despite being told not to) is whether or not Team Pacquiao has actually signed off on it yet, themselves.

There was supposed to be no talking during the negotiation process to maintain the integrity of the details privately discussed, yet the world has been told that "all points have been agreed to by Team Pacquiao and Team Mayweather has been sent an official copy to make it official". Did those words ("all points were agreed to") include the full scale blood and urine randomized testing throughout fight camp that Team Mayweather imposed? Or something to once again bring us so close, yet so far in the end? Now, if randomized testing throughout camp was agreed to by Team Pacquiao and Team Mayweather fails to solidify the deal, we have a bona fide reason to draw conclusions, (about Team Mayweather), whether they be true or false. Trouble is, as of now, this hasn't been confirmed. So, for the one side that has decided it's OK to talk to just intentionally leave this very important set of details out, one can only question what the truth really entails.

Few seem to discuss the fact that in the last negotiation for the fight, a mediator (Judge Daniel Weinstein) was brought in for what was supposed to be hush-hush negotiations. There was one side talking then, too. After the world began to form opinions based on what was said, that same neutral mediator came out in an unequivocal tone by producing what he called (and I quote) "A correction of false claims by Team Pacquiao". That action placed fault squarely on one side. As we reflect back on those failed negotiations and remember seeing them officially fall apart 3 hours prior to the midnight deadline given, it kinda makes you wonder if..........well.........if we've been set up for the same thing.......again!

If in fact this is an example of deceit where we learn that the true stipulations were never met and Mayweather opts not to move forward, despite him looking bad in the eyes of the public temporarily, it could be Pacquiao who ultimately looks worst in the long run. Few have considered the fact that a man who most view as the greatest in the sport today currently has a contingency plan that would place him in the ring with either a suspended fighter who is currently banned in the U.S.A., (Margarito); or the man he savagely humbled who has never been the same ever since (Cotto). Not exactly great options for a man fighting steroid allegations, himself.

With so many other talents on the rise (Williams/Bradley/Berto) and on the fall (Mosley/Marquez), why Top Rank would limit Pacquiao's options to two men who have no business in the ring with him remains one of those questions few would even care to answer. Some would say it's about dollars, yet, at the expense of tarnishing a crystallized legacy, the end result doesn't appear to make much sense. Don't believe the hype fight fans! Mayweather loves attention, but he's not this moronic! If he was gonna sign the contract it would have come long before tonight. As the midnight deadline draws closer, we are told it's Mayweather's moment; but when he buck's the system like he has so often in the past, trust me, this Mayweather moment will be nothing more than the start of more Pacquiao problems!

what are you talking about How many excuses has floyd used to stop this fight from happening.1.tune up 2. drug tests. 3. split. 4. taxes. 5. taking a break.

Pac only asked for one thing which was not to take tests close to the fight because of past experience which is documented by tape so he wasn't exactly lying.

Pac never ran from the first negotiations it was a mutual decision by both fighters because they could not agree on each others terms.. Both had a chance to make the fight if they gave in to the other.

Bob Arum is as dirty as they come, and it just so happens that he has a lot to gain from a Marg(TR)/Manny(TR) fight, as well as a Cotto(TR)/Manny(TR) fight..... especially if he thinks that Mayweather will likely be the end of the road for Manny, as I do.

The perfect scenario for Bob Arum would be to have every available in-house fight, before a Mayweather finale..... ensuring the best possible payday for Top Rank, and the best chance that the mantle remains with Top Rank if an upset happens before the Mayweather fight.

Just think about it for a sec..... especially if you know Bob Arum as well as i do.

What the hell is Greenburg gonna do?

Come out and publicly diss Arum?

It is highly likely that Arum has asked Greenburg to pass inquiries/information to Haymon, or whoever, and passed it off as negotiation. About a month ago he even stated that GBP were handling the negotiations?

umm hello...Schaefer and DLH all were quoted that deals were near and there was a gag order on the negotiations..also that Arum was gonna deal with them directly because that what ruined the 1st negotiations..all their dislike for each other made it hard..and they would just talk **** back n forth..

so yeah..i dont see how people can sit there and be like..MAY SAID THERE WAS NO NEGOTIATIONS..lol

Lol This is what happens when you give "dumb" enough rope to hang himself. Mayweather Promotions CEO is a five year old named Cash Flow, I don't think he'll be eligible for a raise this year.
