I also think that no fighter in the recent past (last 5 or 6 years) has really made an effort to go after him. Tito was limited in what he could do and Oscar thought he could beat Nard by playing the boxing game...now we have a young man who is big, fast and strong...it is time to let the hands go on the old man and see how he reacts!
See, thats the thing, its the opposite... Hopkin's really hasn't gone anywhere in his fights other than "controlling". We can't say he can't be quick and calculated. Thats whats gonna determine the fight.

If (maybe when) Taylor goes after or "pursues" Hopkins, we'll finally have an idea of what he's still capable of.

Your right, I want to see how he reacts to a young kid throwing tons of hard jabs at him and big right hands. How will Bernard react? It may be no problem for him or it may be a huge problem for him...we dont know?

I would have rather seen Jeff Lacy fight NArd because Lacy would have dictated the pace without a doubt in my mind.

Taylor, I still question how he will react once the bell rings.

In the first four rounds I would like to see the jab like you said but I would also like to see a 20 or 30 second spurt in each round where he gets crazy-active and throws a ton of pucnhes...if he is at all effective in doing this in the first 4 rounds it will make Hopkins up his activity level...

To beat Hopkins you need to get his workrate up...or at least thats how I think he can win.

I would like to see the winner of each round have to land at least 10 punches...Hopkins in his last handful of fights has been landing 4-6 punches a round and he is easily winning these rounds. Get his workrate up and then he is out of his element and it is anyones fight.

Hopkins has never been in there with a fighter who has a really strong and effective jab. The last man was Roy Jones.

As I have said in the past this is an extremely close matchup and it will be entertaining to see how Hopkins deals with a strong stiff jab and how Taylor will deal with the inside fighting and bodywork and smacking on the hip Hopkins will deal out on Taylor.

It is to close to call but Taylor is inexperienced and has never been in the ring with a fighter like Hopkins and it has been a while since Hopkins has seen a stiff and strong jab.

It is close as hell but my pick is Hopkins.

be prepared for a shocking ko in between rounds 1-4, the theatre of the unexpected tells me to expect that. taylor wins by ko in a jones- tarver2 type of sudden, shocking ko.

see, that just doesn't seem realistic to me. In most cases, that kind of ending contrasts both fighters styles.

Hopkins has noted he has slowed and Jermain would be most vulnerable in the beginning. He may just rush over to Taylor and go all out...But I doubt it, Hopkins talks a lot of smack and fighting that way isnt his style.

I dont know guys I dont see Taylor beating Hopkins. he is 40 years old but doesnt have much wear and tear because of the way he fights. we all know he fights smart and fights to win regardless of the bo's or whatever.
Hopkin's is a fully grown wolve in with a young one.

bernard hopkins reminds me of mos def

what sets him apart from other artists is that he didnt lose the hunger and drive that he had before he made it. they maintain the same level of hunger throughout their career.
