Taylor's trainer hits the nail on the head!

Listening to Pat Burns talk about how Taylor will fight Hopkins sounded right too me.

If Hopkins comes out at 40MPH than Taylor will be at 60, if NArd is at 60MPH than Taylor will need to be at 80MPH.

Nards opponents in the past have fought at his slow pace and have paid for it, if you are going to beat him or watch him get old in the ring it will not happen if you fight his pace and try to out think him.

Burns had it right in my mind, whatever pace Hopkins sets you must immediately, immediately, immediately change that pace and let the old man know that you are going to have to throw a lot more punches than you are accustom to win rounds and ultimately win the fight.

Now talk is great but lets see if Jermain can execute!

What does Taylor need to do to make Nard feel 40?

How important are the first four rounds for Taylor?

to make anyone feel old (in this case, 40) you have to wear that person down throughout the fight..

unfortunately for Taylor, Hopkins is still in the best shape of his life. He trains like an animal. Also, and this is by far, the most impressive thing i feel, is that at 40 years of age, he's still hungry. He wants to go out on top, something that very few in boxing ever accomplish. That, in itself, is enough motivation for Hopkins to get it done saturday night.

Jab, Jab, Jab and keep the distance dont let Hopkins get inside.

Constant moving and JAB, JAB, JAB.

That is Taylors key to victory.

Similar to the same style Leonard fought Hagler, dont want to make comparisons but the same style would defeat Hopkins.

Taylor isnt really seasoned and is still a rookie but like I said use those elements and he gets the victory.

With how Taylor drops his hand after he jabs, I predict he's going to be eating alot of counter right hands in return.

That's where Hopkins' conditioning and age will determine what happens next. If he can keep up and counter when he gets the chance then he will come out on top. A younger Hopkins would win this no problem, but at this point in his career you just don't know.

I think he will need to do more than jab, I think he needs to make a effort in each of the first four rounds to send a message to NArd that this fight is unlike any fight he has been in in years.

In the first four rounds I would like to see the jab like you said but I would also like to see a 20 or 30 second spurt in each round where he gets crazy-active and throws a ton of pucnhes...if he is at all effective in doing this in the first 4 rounds it will make Hopkins up his activity level...

To beat Hopkins you need to get his workrate up...or at least thats how I think he can win.

I would like to see the winner of each round have to land at least 10 punches...Hopkins in his last handful of fights has been landing 4-6 punches a round and he is easily winning these rounds. Get his workrate up and then he is out of his element and it is anyones fight.

The reason all of Hopkins opponents dont fight at a fast pace is because....

He makes them fight that way, it's what makes him so good...

By the way, everyone thinks Hopkins is gonna lose like Wright, Trinidad, Tszyu and Tyson...

but his gonna shock the world..

He's going to make a statement on Saturday to show his one of the greatest middleweights of all time...

This will be like Hagler-Mugabi, without the brawling though, but more of the old man winning the fight..

I think you are right to a point...

                    but...

I also think that no fighter in the recent past (last 5 or 6 years) has really made an effort to go after him. Tito was limited in what he could do and Oscar thought he could beat Nard by playing the boxing game...now we have a young man who is big, fast and strong...it is time to let the hands go on the old man and see how he reacts!
