Comments Thread For: David Tua's Heavyweight Hopes at Stake in Atlantic City

By Keith Idec - David Tua hasn’t participated in what would be considered a relevant heavyweight fight in the seven years since he drew with Hasim Rahman in their rematch.

Tua’s dubious streak won’t end tonight. [Click Here To Read More]

David Tua is a great guy, i really like him. It would be nice if he could finish his career with a ****. Imo he has good chances to upset Haye, but it will be verry verry difficult against either Klit, even against Vitali who seems to be fading. I would love to see him against Arreola or Peter after tonights fight, that would be great entertaining fights. The winner should get a titleshot then.
But to make some noice tonight, he has to finish Barrett in 3 rounds, it would be disapointing if he wouldnt. Its true he boxed well in his last 2 fights, not just looking for that one big left hook but winning rounds. He boxed better than in the past 10 years.
There is nobody like Tyson in boxing a the moment, but Tua is the closest comparison to him at the moment. Forget about the "white Tyson" Chagaev or Denis Boytsov.

I totally agree, this is what I've stated recently, the Barrett fight is more important than some think in the sense that Barrett is unanimously seen as a finished fighter who has been dominated and ko'ed by the top fighters he has faced recently like Haye and Solis, so if Tua doesn't take him out of there inside 3 rounds (2 would be best), than maybe Tua doesn't belong in a ring anymore

Tua has to make it look easy, like when he fought Cameron

Yeah i'd be shocked if it goes past three. I expect this to be a fairly disturbing slaughter fest, much worse than Cameron.

Always liked Tua. This fight should be fun for however long it lasts. Monte's tough enough to hang for a few rounds. If he ever got a shot at Wlad he has that puncher's chance, but based on height and how he faltered against Lennox before, I don't see him winning that one. There's a few excting matches for Tua at HW, but if he wants a belt he's probably assed out. He'd need to look like absolute garbage for Haye to consider giving him a shot. But if he got one he'd decapitate Haye for sure.

After this, Tua should either fight a top 25 heavyweight or retire.

No point in Tua continuing to fight any more shot opponents like Barrett, bums like Cameron or journeymen like Ahunyana.

That's actually pretty common to be ranked by one org and not the other.

what is fishy about it? he currently owns 2 wbo regional titles which puts him in their top 10.since he owns 2 thats why his ranking is so high instead of just breaking the top 10.
