Because there is no way he would beat Martinez.

This is the perfect fight for JC jr. He has to know, is he a world beater? Or is he just a paper tiger? It's simple, he's getting old and hasn't met a contender yet. Kelly is dangerous, but has been beat by Martinez and the scales. His right hand is also suspect, so it's do or die time for jr. Win and chase a championship, or lose and quit wasting his (our) time.

Pavlik is just being mismanaged badly. He needs to get out of Youngstown dump the illprepared small time trainer/plumber and get focused with a world class trainer even a ronnie shield could help him. Pavlik is being ruined by bad advice and bad training preperation. He is skilled but is limited with the poor advice he has been given sad and sorry.

Last week, a report ran on BoxingScene.com that Pavlik was seriously considering the possibility of remaining in the middleweight division. The Youngstown native had previously announced his desire to move up in weight to 168-pounds. After thinking it over, Pavlik came to a decision and informed Top Rank that he would hire a nutritionist and remain at 160-pounds. [Click Here To Read More]

Pavlik has a lot of trouble making 160. If he can make the weight without losing too much he will beat Chavez jr. But obviously Pavlik is vulnerable right now which makes this fight interesting. I think this is a cash out fight for the loser.

Imagine if Kelly was working with Freddie Roach (and Ariza's shakes) instead of with Jack Loew? What a difference that would make.

That's what I'm leaning towards. Pavlik was pretty much finished at MW after that loss to Martinez; he and his camp said this. Now all of sudden, he's going to stay a MW and fight a Top Rank fighter.

Will he be looking to quit, like in the Martinez fight (in no way am I comparing JCC Jr to Sergio)? For me, there's just so many things I don't know about Pavlik right now.

I would slightly favor Pavlik, but I'd be scared to put money down on him. And if he opens as a huge favorite as I suspect he will, I might even make a small play on JCC Jr.

Wow, I never thought I'd say that.
                    Yep, I agree John.....
