I wanted to hate Greenburg, but after hearing his reasoning, I don't really disagree with him. And its hard to disagree with what the Klitschko's are doing.

If I was them, I'd fight in Germany too. I mean just look at the differences in the crowd, the arena, the atmosphere, its not even close.

As an HBO subscriber, I really hate to watch their fights at 2 pm on the West Coast, so I get it. But if they aired them, of course I'd watch regardless.

Im a huge Klitschko fan, but its hilarious how you know hes sitting behind his computer, scrolling the forums for the word "Klitschko"int he title, entering the thread and flipping out and having seizures everytime someone says the word Klit. I can just tell. Thats all he does all day is just patrol for the word Klit and then has an anneurism.

that being said I was mad when HBO said they wouldnt air Povetkin vs. Wlad, but hearing the reasoning I get it. Its about money on both sides and unfortunately the American audience gets screwed. If HBO delayed the fight to primetime then everyone who cared would just livestream it and the ratigns would suck and if they put it on at 5 pm (2 west coast) their viewing audience now consists solely of rabid Klitschko or boxing fans who have HBO and who have jobs that give them the weekend off. I wish the Klitschko's would deep discount their fights for almost nothing, give them to HBO for free, build up a fanbase that way. You take a concession to get more later.

We're not shutting out the heavyweight division here - that would be ridiculous.

Nope, just the division's two best fighters. :WTF??:

man that just makes me sick ! I get HBO mostly for the boxing since all their good oridginal programing has faded (deadwood , six feet under ) and love to watch the brothers , damn HBO for such a boneheaded decision ! It's not their fault that they've beaten the HW devision to death . Bring back lennox lewis , hell he can still beat 90% of everything out there besides the brothers and he had made some pretty curt remarks about the brothers before HBO finally fired his uuhhh boring ass .

“I’m not hearing an outpouring of caring [about the heavyweights] from fans. It’s odd, the fans don’t ask about the heavyweights anymore. It’s almost like it’s happening somewhere else at the moment- the entire division.”
We have a main nominee for the "Captain Obvious" here... HW boxing is happening anywhere else except the States...

Greenburg pretty much hits the nail on the head when he says that the public isn't interested in Wlad-Povetkin. When Greenburg says 'public' it's equivalent of him saying americans.

Where he fails is when saying Wlad-Povetkin is not an interesting match-up because it is. This must be the first time in HBO history that they fail to show a linear champion defending his title against an undefeated olympic champion. The bottom line is that HBO and it's viewers are not interested because there's no americans in sight who can give one of the klits a run for their money.

Once upon a time HBO was known to be the network that had the best fighters in the world. Those where the days.

POSTULAT: Funny thing is that since HBO are not showing the heavies the viewers automatically think that the heavies are utter ****. I think it's safe to say that the heavies have been worse before and that the real reason for the klit's not being shown on HBO is a case of american nationalism.

Slight correction, he hates the idea of a certain kind of European HW champion, he would be ok with Gaye beating the Klitschkos.

Just as many have said here, if the Klitschkos were of a different "background", they would have been annointed as the second coming of Cassius Clay and Joe Luis. I mean the guys are without a doubt HOFs (not many can dispute that both will be going into the HOF when they retire) plus they are exceptional human beings as well as an amazing sports story - two brothers holding down the HW division for almost 10 years, belt-holders at the same time, you can't script a better story than that. Yet, they are strangely ignored in the States. The rest of the world knows their true value though - when you sell out 60,000 stadiums fight after fight, there is no doubt you are the real thing. HBO can shove it up their @ss, we can still can get their fights over here via internet PPV, it was pretty good last time Wlad fought Eddie, I didn't notice the difference. Hook up your laptop to your 52" HD LCD and you are good to go.
