There was something almost theatrical about the most powerful man at HBO sports snubbing the most powerful fighters (literally) in boxing. [Click Here To Read More]

The truth is, Greenburg just doesn't like European fighters.

He hates the idea of a European heavyweight champion.

“He has the prerogative to say anything he wants, it’s his network,” Finkel began. “But I totally disagree with him. When he says that the brothers can’t be differentiated, how come up until the fight at Yankee stadium with Cotto, Klitschko vs. Arreola was the highest rated program they had in a year and a half? How come when the brothers have fought, their ratings were high? When Wladimir fought against [Samuel] Peter in Atlantic City, it was the highest rated program in two years.”
Arreola definitely played a large role in that he was fighting to become the first Mexican-American heavyweight champ. In addition I suspect the fact that the Mayweather-Marquez replay shown within that broadcast contributed as well.

As far as Wlad, the Peter fight was on 2005 and it was a domestic fight which also featured Cotto-Torres. His ratings for his recent fights taking place in Germany have not been good, at least perhaps not good enough to justify the money involved. For instance these numbers might be acceptable for a BAD card which is dirt cheap and they're featuring prospects who their looking to build for more lucrative fights down the road.

For over twenty years, Seconds Out has been delivering the very latest boxing news, results, interviews and more.

The rating for the live telecast of four of those five fights failed to break 2.0 (Klitschko-Austin 1.5; Klitschko-Brewster 1.7; Klitschko-Thompson 1.4; Klitschko-Rahman 1.8).
It sounds like HBO would probably be a lot more interested in the fights were taking place domestically as it generates better fan interest but since it makes better financial sense for them to fight in Germany, that's what they've decided to do as they should.

I'm starting to beleive this may be true.

Boxing needs all the exposure it can get in America, especially the Heavyweight Division, and to totally snub the Heavyweight Champ is a fiukking bull**** move and proves Greenburg doesn't give a **** about the state of boxing in the US.

Right, like David Haye and Tomasz Adamek. He hates them.
