I'm with you. I think Montiel is one helluva fighter but people tend to forget that he did lose to Jhonny Gonzales and a Mark Johnson who was on the down side of his career.
FWIW I actually think Yohnny Perez crushes Montiel. I don't think Montiel can crack Perez' chin and I see Yohnny being too big, too strong and walking him down with his high work rate. I think the real fights for Nonito at 118 are Mares, Perez, and Moreno. I'm pretty convienced that Donaire UD Montiel but those 3 I mentioned above are toss up fights IMO.Comment

Donaire's power will be less of a factor @ 118 but Donaire will beat most opposition with his skillset. Donaire might do well @122 but i think he would get schooled @126. he needs 2 keep his hands up.Comment

There are a deep pool of fighters at that weight,he needs to jump to 122 and fight a Cabalerro type if he wants to make waves,i honestly see him losing badly to Montiel which i think is probably the most underrated fighter in the world, which even if he won he would not make a whole lot considering Montiel is not exactly a huge name in the states and uk,i seriously think he would do way better at 122 then 118,facts are he will make more money there, and being ranked 3 p4p by Ring whatever thats worth these days, will get him big paydays against any of the champs at 122 because it will be perceived his 0 is at risk.Comment
