The man has skills that is undeniable, but does he have the heart, thats my question,Arum has a ton of good fighters fighting top competition,to me it seems he i being matched softly because his own people see weakness in him.

I'm with you. I think Montiel is one helluva fighter but people tend to forget that he did lose to Jhonny Gonzales and a Mark Johnson who was on the down side of his career.

FWIW I actually think Yohnny Perez crushes Montiel. I don't think Montiel can crack Perez' chin and I see Yohnny being too big, too strong and walking him down with his high work rate. I think the real fights for Nonito at 118 are Mares, Perez, and Moreno. I'm pretty convienced that Donaire UD Montiel but those 3 I mentioned above are toss up fights IMO.

        he'll do okay.

        i don't think he'll have much power at 118.

he'll have to box and depend less on his power.

Donaire's power will be less of a factor @ 118 but Donaire will beat most opposition with his skillset. Donaire might do well @122 but i think he would get schooled @126. he needs 2 keep his hands up.

There are a deep pool of fighters at that weight,he needs to jump to 122 and fight a Cabalerro type if he wants to make waves,i honestly see him losing badly to Montiel which i think is probably the most underrated fighter in the world, which even if he won he would not make a whole lot considering Montiel is not exactly a huge name in the states and uk,i seriously think he would do way better at 122 then 118,facts are he will make more money there, and being ranked 3 p4p by Ring whatever thats worth these days, will get him big paydays against any of the champs at 122 because it will be perceived his 0 is at risk.

Montiel is too sloppy to get done.

I alway thought Donaire could fight up to 130 and be competitive, This guy IMO have the skills to be anyone up to 130 and he has the body or frame to carry the weight.

No he doesn't. Doddie Boy penalosa and now Robert Garcia are perfect for him.
