If Valuev bitches out again, I actually wouldn't mind seeing this fight. Briggs is another loudmouth punk who always talks **** about the Klitschkos. I would thoroughly enjoy watching Briggs get destroyed by Vitali.

Tua would be okay, but he's not ranked by the WBC.

He's ranked #2 by the WBO, one win from being the mandatory, so I imagine he may be a future opponent for Wlad.

Looks like this fight may be on for October 16.

Briggs hasn't done anything to deserve the fight but why not? It's not like there are many other options. Briggs is still a good name on the resumé and a former lineal champion.

I was watching a clip of Briggs from 2005 on Friday Night Fights, and when Teddy Atlas was asked what weight Briggs should be, he said in the 230s. Briggs has been nowhere near that sort of weight in recent years.

This will be a fun fight to watch while it lasts.

Briggs comes out strong trying to take Big Vit out early while Vitali keeps him on the end of that jab until he runs out of steam then stops Briggs before the end of 6.

When Briggs runs out of steam it's gonna be awful.

He's going to be dangerous for a few until his asthma kicks in, unfortunately.

He is hammer handed and a big guy so Vitali but be careful early on but I think he will handle those rounds like he did with Arreola.

Because of the extra 30lbs or so Briggs carries, it pretty much takes away his main threat against the top fighters. The speed he would have in the 230s would make him a very live underdog, especially considering his power and size. I would have been very interested in seeing how Wladimir would have coped with a younger Briggs. Would he have had the composure Lewis had under pressure? Vitali has that composure, although I still think he is susceptible to cuts. It's just that Lewis was the only fighter he has faced that hit him often enough, and hard enough. Briggs certainly won't do that throwing 9 punches a round.

                      good fight in my eyes.

I trust Shannon Briggs as a dangerous fighter. He earn't my respect in the Lewis fight, when he gave the watching world a textbook example of how to fight a superior champion. He was all heart and always dangerous until he was ultimately taken out.

Of course, he has been under-par in big fights since then but he has never been such an underdog...until now.

Vitali gets him out of there like Lewis did after having to ride a storm out.
