  • David Haye was never "undisputed" cruiserweight champion, he ducked Steve Cunningham

David Haye always says he was the "undisputed" cruiserweight champion.

But he had only TWO world title fights at that weight.

The first was against the fading Jean Marc Mormeck, who was shot after his two wars with O'Neil Bell.

The second was against the paper champion, delicate-chinned Enzo Maccarinelli, who had been previously KOed by the low-level clubfighter Swaby.

He never fought the best PRIME cruiserweights at that time:

    1. The IBF Champion, Steve Cunningham, who has a style that Haye wouldn't have been able to deal with.

    2. Tough and skillful Tomasz Adamek.

    3. Hard-punching and durable Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, who is a year younger than Haye and has never been stopped.

    David Haye is a fraud.

mormeck wasn't "shot".. give him some credit, he beat Bell in the rematch. Maccrinelli had a china chin but still had power, he's shot now, but it was a big fight in the UK, first time we had an all british unification in a while.

Haye would have KO'd Cunningham. He had too much speed and power. Cunningham didn't have much power, Haye had a suspect chin but i think Haye would have got to Cunningham first.

    Wlod wasn't in Haye's league.

Haye unified and moved up in weight, deal with it. He was ranked as undisputed champ, end of.

Held 3 of the 4 big titles, that's pretty undisputed. Also has a good tenure at the European level.

But to be UNDISPUTED you must have ALL the belts. Just imagine, If Andre Berto went on to beat Zaveck for the IBF belt, Then beat Senchenko for the WBA belt but didnt fight Pacquiao for the WBO strap. Then NOBODY would consider him to be hands down the best guy in the division. You have to beat everyone to be considered undisputed, Haye beat the double champion in Mormeck which he deserves credit for but other than Mormeck who did he really beat? Enzo was a good win but he wasnt considered the best. Haye would have got more recognition beating Cunningham or Adamek than he did with Enzo.

          Adamek
          Cunningham
          Wlodarcyk (However you spell it)

They would all have been big fights and I dont want anyone saying "Oh well Haye would have had it easy because Cunningham had a dodgy chin" because Haye's chin was just as or even more suspect than Steve's.

I'm of the opinion that these days you can be the unified champ without having *all* the belts, because there's an unlimited number of them. Do you need the WBF, WPBF, IBU, and IBF straps too?

I view Wladimir Klitschko as the heavyweight champion of the world, Haye and Vitali are title-holder, but in my eyes Wlad is the champ. And you can't be the champ until you defeat the champ in the ring.

There have been precious few true undisputed champs in recent years. Any Boxing fan worth his salt knows that Haye was the number one cruiser at the time. If you think Cunningham (who I'm a fan of) has anything like the necessary to deal with Haye you're deluding yourself. Adamek would have been a much tougher fight and I fancy Tomasz would have given Haye plenty of problems. He was certainly the only guy out there capable of troubling Haye.

But undisputed or otherwise, Haye held the majority of the belts, including the ring belt and also the division lineage. Not bad for a fraud and a coward.

Cunningham and Adamek were the top fighters in the CW division along with Haye. Then you put down Wlodarczyk.

                  What the fuck for?

Id definitely say so. Neither Vitali or Haye are interested in fighting him for different reasons, so what is there to dispute?
