Pacquiao is seeking damages in excess of $5 million and that's why GBP is so desperate to get this fight made, notice how DLH jumped the gun and said the fight was 'very, very close' and then was pimp slapped by Schaefer and started yapping about being 'misquoted' in a television interview.

Petrocelli has a vault of evidence against GBP and the Mayweathers (especially Roger and Floyd Sr) and will have little trouble winning the case. If Mayweather ducks the fight, and he will, he will forgo making $60-120 million for fights w/ Pacquiao and instead owe him $5 mil.

The fight has nothing to do with the lawsuit, they are 2 seperate issues. Pac has already agreed to terms as has Top Rank and GBP, the ONLY thing holding up the fight is one Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. No getting around it, if Floyd doesn't sign on to fight and he comes up with more excuses (the latest one from a 'source within his camp' says he doesn't want to fight this year because of tax issues)- he should and will carry all the blame.
Any credible sources for the part in bold?

F**k the lawsuit, division of money, drug testing, etc., lets just let these two guys fight! F**k who thinks who deserves more money, f**k the lawsuit, and just agree to a 50-50 split or a 60-40 split for the winner. Otherwise, we all lose and nobody wins....

Pac won't win this case...he is going to have to show that harm was done to his reputation as a result of defamation.... It will be hard to prove he was directly slandered in the first place-especially from Floyd jr.

When you consider that, how has his career in politics or boxing suffered? He has had a fight in Dallas, now one may take place in Vegas between him and Floyd, which would be the most lucrative match in quite some time, and after the "accusations" he was elected in his own country,etc...the judge will laugh and say "how the hell has his reputation been tarnished and how has his career suffered as a result of this supposed slander"????

            By JOSEPH G. LARIOSA...

CHICAGO – While Manny Pacquiao was busy campaigning for a congressional seat in the Philippines, Judge Larry R. Hicks of the United States District Court of Nevada in Las Vegas denied two motions filed by Oscar De La Hoya and assistant Richard Schaefer.

De La Hoya and Schaeffer filed an Anti Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) motion and motion to dismiss the $5-million defamation suit Pacquiao filed against them.

At the same time, Judge Hicks granted Pacquiao’s ex-parte motion to conduct “limited discovery and modified briefing schedule" for defendants De La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions owner) and Schaefer (Golden Boy’s chief executive officer).

This means that Pacquiao’s lawyers, led by David Marroso, can now take depositions from De La Hoya and Schaefer on the issue of the Filipino boxing icon’s alleged use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs); any statements or communications made by the defendants, their agents or representatives in connection with that issue, including defendants’ mental state; the circumstances and basis upon which any statements were made, and knowledge of any statement’s falsity.

Pacquiao will need the depositions to oppose De La Hoya and Schaefer’s motion to dismiss and the “Anti-SLAPP" motion, a special motion filed in Nevada by a defendant to dismiss the case within 60 days after service of the complaint.

The order also said that “Pacquiao may not seek information or documents relating to De La Hoya’s or any other boxers, use of performance enhancing drugs."
The Lawsuit is very real and will be very expensive for GBP and the Mayweathers, minimum $5 mil. AND GBP will probably face another lawsuit where they could lose their share of Manny's earnings after conspiring to destroy his public image, which is the exact opposite of what partial promoters are paid to do.

Absolutely ******ed on GBP's part to conspire against someone whose career they have a financial stake in. But in the end they will pay and Floyd's cold feet will cost them even more.

It's also very expensive for Pacquiao. Everyone has bills. It's frivolous and serves no purpose. To extract money from them in the courtroom for something he said? If Pac felt his reputation might be damaged all he had to was shut hum up by taking the tests. And he would've got paid to do that.

March 13 fight with Clottey - less than 1 MIL PPV buys and less revenue thus hurts Pac's career...
