Yup Buddy Baer, was pretty successful not so much as Max though, he was at the end of his career when Louis fought him.
I like Rocky, decent Heavyweight and a fantastic display of dedication and heart, I think that if he came a long a few years earlier he'd be remembered as a much greater HW then he is now though, if he could get past a earlier Joe Louis anyway, few years later and he'd have to deal with Liston don't favor his chances in that fight.
Over rated by some but he tend to get under rated by more.Comment

The division had Marciano, Archie Moore, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Roland LaStarza, Rex Layne, Nino Valdes, Bob Baker and Bob Satterfield at the top along with upcoming fighters such as Floyd Patterson, Cleveland Williams, Sonny Liston, Zora Folley and Ingemar Johansson
The division was an aging divison with new boys like Pretty Boy Patterson ready to take over.
It was pretty weak tbh, there notable names but they were old. Charles and Walcott were pretty good when they were older but werent as great as they were before.
People say he ducked Patterson but thats just a myth...Comment

the copy of the louis fight that i have the commentator says before the fight that louis is the favorite to win so he should be given more credit for the win than he gets. i dont think the fight was considered a huge mismatch at the time, at least judging by the copy of the fight that i have and the commentary.Comment
