rocky is a combination of both dudes.

his biggest wins came from naturally smaller guys coming up to fight him and/or 40 yr. old past it names.
The only naturally smaller guy that came up to fight him was Moore. Four months before he fought Marciano, Moore beat top rated heavyweight Nino Valdes, so he tested himself in the division before challenging for the title. Not to mention that he weighed in at the same weight as Marciano.

The myth that his biggest wins are over past it fighters is false. Only Louis and Charles fit that category. The rest were all at the top of their game.

Sure, he may have dominated in a weak era, but so did Louis and Tyson.

If you arent comparing him to people of other eras then I think everyone is on your side. I read the thread and no one says Marciana should have or even could have done anything differently. Calzaghes my favorite fighter, but its true his 46 wins could have been against different guys that would have given him more respect. A lot of that is by looking at it with hindsight. I mean no one really knew Lacy was total trash, or how shot Jones was or Eubank's career slide etc...cal made some mistake. Marciano never did. He fought everyone, he beat everyone. But he himself acknowledged he wasnt unbeatable. He struggled in a lot of fights. But the man was great, no one disputes that. He dominated the HW division and he took every fight that people wanted.

              lmfao

jersey joe walcott and archie moore were older than ezzard or joe when rocky fought them.

they might have still been good fighters but to say they weren't past it is bull****.

Jersey Joe was giving him a boxing lesson until Rocky finally caught up with him and look what happened.
