No one is saying he ducked anyone or that he should have done anything differently. Im a huge fan of his. I think he is an all time great and is one of the GOAT in the HW division due to his dominance and his inability to allow himself to be beat. However, I think Joe Calzaghe would UD Marciano. I think Vital or Wlad would cause serious injury to him and might kill him. I think that he would probably lose to everyone in the Super 6. To me I watch these old fighters, including Ali/Foreman/Frazier/Louis etc..and all I see are guys too slow and too unathletic to compete. Thats not their fault, we know so much more now about training, conditioning, nutrition etc...Kids are healthier now so they get bigger and boxing is global now. Its a totally different world now. Again, look at athletes in measurable sports from the 50's and 60's, sports like track/field/swimming. Do any still have quantifiable records standing? no? But yet you tell someone this stuff and they act like you pushed their grandpa down the stairs. Boxing has changed, when people try to compare people from different eras I laugh. You think that Kareem would have been so dominant for UCLA if he was going against a 22 year old Dwight Howard? Its a totally different world now. Take John Havlicek and put him against Pau Gasol..........game over.

did i say he ducked anyone? did i say he didn't defend his title? did i say he wasn't undefeated?

valero didn't duck anyone. he defended his belt. he was undefeated.

            is he an atg?

no. why because it's all about who you fight and when you fought them.

beating joe louis is a great win. a 38 year old past it joe louis? not so much. still a good win but not that great.

Exactly, you can't compare athletes from today and athletes from the past, they are just so much better in all aspects now for a variety of reasons.

It is when you're talking about guys who's best wins don't come in that division. Imagine if Roy Jones Jr stayed at HW and lost to Lennox Lewis. How much credit would you have given Lewis?
