In all seriousness though, Roach is an excellent trainer but he gets mad exposure some other top trainers rarely see. I got no problem ith anyone who picks him as the best, but I think Nacho Beristain (sp?), John David Jackson and ****m Richards are all excellent trainers who are every bit as capable as Freddy. Jmo.

No doubt his the best trainer of his trainer around at the moment in my mind.

He has turned Manny Pac from a one handed fighter into on of the best fighters of his era. The jury is still out on Khan, but he still a much better fighter since Freddie took over.

Also, HOF's such as Hopkins, DelaHoya, Tyson etc have all worked under Freddie and complimented him on being a great trainer so that speaks for itself.

While his boxing knowledge is vast, his PR ability his cronic.

A once highly respected trainer amongst the masses, whenever Roach used to talk you tended to listen. He had a frank candid approach that was refreshing to listen to

Then when Manny started hitting the big time ie especially around the DeLa Hoya fight, the media started to pay him more attention. Now I understand Manny's limited English is problematic for hyping up his fights outside the ring and initially Roach made great in-roads into filling this void. Much of the 24/7 and build up to the Oscar fight was the fact that Freddie said Oscar didnt have it anymore and that he used to train him. People were interested and intrigued. It worked.

Also, with the Hatton fight, Manny's inability again to trash talk or promote (not hating just facts he has limited English), Roach again stepped in and engaged in a war of words with Floyd snr. This in my view was a great move by Roach and the promoters as it was not just fighter v fighter, both trainers repuatations were on the line.

But what happened next is where it all went wrong. Instead of giving interviews once a week/2 weeks, now it was daily. Roach was giving his opinion on everything and anything that he quite frankly had nothing to do with. Now it must be hard not to get carried away, i would certainly to, but there is a line now which imo he has crossed where I cannot take anything he says now for real as he is descended into a fraud.

I am not going into the Pac v Mayweather negotiations, as its pointless, and talked to death. The point im making is that there are videos of Roach saying "We have no problem with Random testing etc" and then turning around a few weeks later and saying giving in to such demands is like"giving the first few rounds away" which is preposterous.

In closing, his repuatation as a trainer is undisputed. He is at the top of the list for the reasons i said at the beginning. But the latter points i have raised is why i have grown to disdain him.

He built Pacquiao up, that alone shows he is a great trainer, he seems to be doing the same with Khan. I personally can't stand the guy as far as in the media and the persona he portrays, but there's no denying his ability to train fighters.

And I can't believe some people said Pacquiao would be as great as he is now without Roach. That's ridiculous I and always said it was.

Roach is very clever. He's also an expert matchmaker.

I voted yes but Emmanuel Steward is definatly up there.

He transformed the careers of Wlad and Lewis, his work with Hearns, Holyfield etc are undeniable.

You might consider him the best trainer of LAST generation but he has a claim. He's had some misfire's recently like Taylor and Cintron but I think it's more the limitations of the fighters themselves than Steward and every trainer has a few guys who fall short of expectations.

I would say that Enzo Calzaghe is the best.

j/k, Roach all the way. The guy is a genius.

If we can't agree Freddie is a the top of this list, can't we all just agree on the fact that Joe Santiago deserves to be at the .... bottom...
