Well, Gatti didn't look too bad in the 1st round until the knockdown. The knockdown was pretty much his own fault. I think it threw him off a lot, and he really abandoned his game plan. He should have kept his cool and stuck with his plan another round, but I guess he felt he had to play catchup. His biggest problem is the way his eyes swell. Once his eyes start swelling, it's over against a fighter of that calibre, and it doesn't take a lot to make his eyes swell up. I really don't think he can go 12 anymore, just cuz of the eyes. Gatti should have fought like Marciano, and instead of hitting the head, he should have hit the body, the arms and the shoulders. I think a heavy puncher could do well against a boxer like Mayweather by pounding his arms and body. You don't see too many guys going after the shoulders anymore.
Edit: But even then, his chances of winning were slim, I think.Comment

No doubt Gatti had to brawl, though I think Gatti got comfortable with how his last few fights went by using his boxing skills. He thought he could easily get through this one with his plan he and Buddy came up with althuogh Gatti completely failed to execute. I think Gatti understands his age is catching up with him and rather go out of boxing with little injuries as possible. Apparently that didn't happen vs Floyd though...Comment

Floyd wouldn't let him brawl, everytime Gatti would open up to punch floyd hit him with 2 or 3 counters to the face, there was nothing he could do at 33 against a prime mayweather who basically fought the fight of his life, he never looked better or faster than that. everytime arturo threw a big right, he either got countered to death or floyd was nowhere near him to get hit by the punch. I love Gatti and hate Floyd, but there was absolutely nothing Gatti could do in that ring to beat floyd that night, period!Comment

My point was, he was getting hit and was going to get hit no matter what he did. he was losing the fight badly so he should have just let his hands go whether he got countered or not. It's not like Floyd could have hit him much more than he already was.Comment

If Gatti hadn't been head hunting so much, he probably could have landed more punches. I know Mayweather is really good at covering his body though. Would be interesting to see some heavy puncher fight Mayweather and see what he can do by ****ing on his arms. I would really like to see a slugger fight Winky Wright, and just pound his arms and shoulders when he tries to block and see what happens.Comment

Gatti should've brawled, but it wouldn't have made a difference. Floyd would've ended the fight much sooner. If Gatti had brawled, then the fight would've been more exciting. I'm sure Gatti thought about brawling, but he wasn't willing to risk taking more punishment.Comment
