The only chance i see Pacquaio having against Mayweather is his unorthodoxy and his Southpaw stance, but thats as much in optimism than faith, see to me Mayweather likes to calculate everything he does in the ring, but in Boxing you cant always calculate how to deal with unorthodox fighters because they are exactly that, unorthodox, they dont make movements that the regular fighters make, so when your used to slipping a certain way to avoid punches, or try time them, it can be more difficult, plus Manny is left handed which Sr seems to think has been a problem for Mayweather. Pretty sure Forrest looked at Mayorga and thought it would be a routine defense.
On the other side of the coin, you can throw a fighter off with your unorthodoxy for a while! but a lot of the time, sooner or later, usually the mid rounds, they start to get to grips with it and get your timing down, i remember this being the case for Whitaker in his fights with Gary Jacobs & Policarpo Diaz, having said that he(Whitaker) did get thrown off for most of the fight against both Rivera and Hurtado, admittedly past his best though, anyway!, back on subject, Pac fought JMM in 2008, its only 2010 now, yet look how close that fight was? its also concievable given Marquez results and performance since that fight that he may have been on the slide then, yet Manny still could not get a definitive result, although he did get the nod, he also showed me in that fight that you can cut down his activity by countering him as he seems to stop throwing when he starts getting countered, now fast foward to the Cotto fight and it seems as much as he has improved that he is still vulnerable to counter punches, Cotto controlled him early by countering him.
With all that said it might suggest that the best way for Manny to fight Floyd would be to start fast and jump on him early, look to take him out, of coarse that might already be common knowledge but it does seem to point strongly in that direction, particularly as i believe Mayweather starts fights very tight and nervous, plus Manny should be able to land more against Mayweather than other opponents because! of his Southpaw stance, the dynamics changes when facing a lefty, particularly with the way Mayweather looks to avoid punches, which is bending into the power hand of a Southpaw.
Did i forget to mention the considerable reach advantage for Mayweather?
All in all i hope Pac busts his chops but i cant see it, hope im wrong.
