Prime De La Hoya would have BEAT Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    Here's why.

An old 34 year old Hoya , a guy 6-8 years PAST his prime fought a prime Mayweather right?

De La Hoya came out and lost a SD. Floyds dad even thought Floyd lost.

Floyd does do well against guys with great combos and lots of them. And oscar was the best at letting go 6-8 punch combos.

If an old hoya almost beat him, imagine what a prime hoya would have done!!

Fact is, he didn't almost beat floyd.

It was clear to see that floyd won that fight, the split decision really flattered de la hoya.

On top of that, de la hoya was the much bigger man in that fight and floyd still beat him.

I think what you mean to say is, a prime de la hoya would whoop manny pacquiao's ass! Imagine pacquiao outweighed de la hoya on fight night, what a disgrace letting oscar in the ring in that condition.

Interesting point, Its a possibility...I mean no man is unbeatable, and Floyd Fans that includes Floyd Mayweather Jr 40-0...Fact is though Floyd beat De La Hoya and has the scalp on his resume, the world cant speculate on what ifs.

Wouldn't have surprised me if a prime Oscar beat Mayweather.

IMO no version of Oscar would have beaten Floyd. Floyd is the better fighter to me. I think It would have been a lot closer though, maybe 7-5 type decision or something like that.

Reason being is that Oscar rarely used his jab, so I can't see him working behind it and being successful against Floyd. Also he would stand in the pocket and try to outbox Floyd which would not work too well in his favor. On the flip side Oscar would have the size advantage and tremendous boxing abilities that would allow him to make this an exciting and close fight (until Floyd pulls away in the championship rounds).

BTW I have always stated that no version of Shane or Oscar could beat Floyd, but again this is how I see things from watching all three of these throughout the course of their careers.

I agree, he would've beat Floyd, he had the speed, the timing the power to beat him and he was bigger. Manny of course would've been KTFO.

Just outta curiosity, what do you see Oscar doing that will enable him to have the type of success to beat Floyd?

Oscar was known for losing to elite fighters. Yet somehow he would beat the best fighter hed ever face. Gotcha.
