yeah well i'm talking about boxing not chowmein fu and pekingduck shu.

bigger fists helps with power. just like hand speed and proper technique.

      he's wrong.

he's not taking into account gloves.

you wear the same size gloves.

      the bigger fists help.

all his surface area sashimi karate talk is irrelevant in boxing.

I don't know what your sensei or what not is talking about. One knuckle would be able to properly conduct all of the energy to really make it harder.

Apprently Liston had some huge fists.

Not been beaten from what I have read.

The gloves are the same ounces so a bigger hand may help because there's more bone.

yeah but miguel is more a beat you up , wear you down power.

not really a knock you out with one punch power.

that's also another reason why guys have less power when moving up.

                fist size.

no matter how big you bulk up , your fist size is still smaller.

that's why even if james toney is 240 lbs. , he still has the hands of a middleweight.

Never thought of it that way. Good point. Bone density also.

Well, One thing I do know, is that during the Sonny Liston period, his closed fist adorned the pages of many boxing artcles. He had huge fists-I suppose to match his 84 inch reach.

so many things attribute to power.

fist size , handspeed , snap at the end of punches , etc.

it's not a simple black and white thing.

there's different philosophies in balling up your fists too.

in karate , i always balled my fists up real tight and compact. more power , make sure you don't hurt your hands , etc.

in boxing , i learned to keep my fists slightly open and to only close it right before impact halfway through the punch. the thinking is balling up your fists at all time wastes energy. plus they say closing it halfway through adds more snap at the end.

                      who knows?
