That wasn't my original question. My original question was simple....removing PPV numbers from the argument, which fighter holds more mainstream appeal? Taking PPV numbers out of it, it's a simple question. But I'm guessing the real issue here, is that Floyd fans don't want to answer that question because they know where it would lead and FYI mainstream popularity spurs revenue...live gate, stadiums and merchandise.
Their brains might explode even thinking about that scenario.
Manny Pacquiao: I am not concerned about the money from a Mayweather fight… I just want to give exciting fights!”
By FightFan.com Staff (15-Feb-2010)
Courtesy of the Krystal Hart Show, see what Manny Pacquiao has to say about his upcoming fight with Joshua Clottey and the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fallout!
Manny Pacquiao: “I’m not concerned about the Money (that would have come in a fight vs. Mayweather). I’m concerned about what I can give in terms of my performance to the people who love boxing. My concern isn’t only with myself, but with the people who buy tickets looking for a good fight. I don’t want to disappoint people with a boring fight. I feel you need to entertain the people who watch your fights.”
“I think with what I’ve done in boxing over the last few years I’m happy that I’ve given the fans a good and exciting stretch of fights. I promise you that in my next fight against Clottey I will give a good fight and make everyone happy. Without God I’m not here and that’s important to me. I can’t promise I’ll win the fight but I will give my best to honour my country and boxing fans everywhere.”
he doesn't care about money yet the split between him and clottey were 90-10 and he had problems with the hatton negotiations because of money yet he doesn't care about the money
HAHAHA. you know you twisted that one Q.
my point was magazine covers. LOL.
We will never know how Manny got that cover but I do know that publicist are paid to get covers by any means and I also know what major magazines charge and I don't see a reason for a magazine like TIME going after Manny though I could be wrong. I'm sure the magazine with Manny didn't post big numbers or we would've heard about it but they certainly didnt pay him to be on the cover.
Manny has belt = champion
Floyd has no belt = challenger.
That hard for you to comprehend? LOL!
no you dumbass, pac took a recently vacant belt from cotto.
cotto lost his WW champ belt and lineal title to Marg who lost to shane and shane got whooped up on by floyd.
floyds the lineal champ of the WW division, took shanes belt then threw it back in his face tell him he could keep that POS. that belt manny has is a paperweight. nor will it be apart of negotiations which should tell you it has no value

How can you measure mainstream without looking at ppv sales?
And how does looking at hypothetical scenarios prove anything? PPV sales exist, they exist for a reason, and are always used when discussing contracts.
But looking at your question... Floyds fights get a bigger gate revenue then Manny's. Floyd never fought in a stadium. And Im not sure which merchandise Floyd or Manny are supposed to be selling.

how can you tell who has more mainstream appeal?maybe by how many people watch the fighter fight which comes right back to floyd.how can someone not have any mainstream appeal yet have more people watch his fights than the fighter with the so called mainstream appeal so i guess floyd actually has the mainstream appeal the only thing is floyd been doin it where as manny just started gettin his recognition thats why it may seem as if manny is more popular but if that were true than he would be able to out sell floyd and he can't
Funny all this *****s **** wanted Pac vs OST before instead of Pac vs Floyd. Now after Pac beat to death Floyd invented useless OST. Now they wanted Pac vs money split instead of Pac vs Floyd again. Again?
