Actually, the true follow-up question to that is basically....

Why do we care? true, it's a forum to discuss, but this type of thinking and quesetioning, as I've seen many times, leads to a road of one-sided biased opinions that eventually turn into name-calling by the time the thread gets to six pages or more.

the point is that somebody "gave in"...was it pacquiao? Maybe, but who cares....good for floyd and good for manny, they're the ones lining thier pockets. I get no red cent from their negotiations.

I get a fight that I want to see, nothing more.

Everything leading to the ding of round one has nothing to do with me, your or anybody's else's "opinion" of why the 14 day cutoff was not accepted way back when.

Manny v. Cotto at 154 is definitely a fight worth making IMO... Margarito...no... HELL NO... 8 division titles is an epic accomplishment especially when your eighth is a very good fighter in Cotto

Pacquiao even mentioned a rematch with Ricky Hatton, which drew laughter from reporters. The Filipino champion himself began laughing to let everyone knew that he was joking around.
Pacquiao probably read the report about Hatton questioning whether he should've tested him.

Come on, people who are being realistic know that the original negotiations probably went something like this-
(Insert Egos) Back and forth banter -

GBP: "We want Mayweathers name first on all promotional stuff." (ie: Mayweather vs Pacquiao)

Top Rank: "O.K. then, we want (xx) size gloves and (xx) size ring."

GBP: "O.K. then we want it in Vegas and a 60/40 split on all the revenue"

Top Rank: "O.K., you can have Vegas, but we want a 50/50 split and a $10 million dollar penalty for every pound over the agreed weight!"

GBP: "Oh yea!?! O.K. then, we'll give you 50/50 and the weight penalty, but we want Olympic style drug testing!"

Top Rank: "O.K. Manny will do 3 blood tests - one after the press conference, one 30 days prior to fight, and one directly after the fight."

GBP: "No, we want USADA and no cut off dates."

                Top Rank: "*** you!"

                GBP: "No, *** you!"

Obviously, NONE of us were in that room... but if ya'll can't see that EGO (on both sides) was a very good possibility why negotiations failed the first time around, then you are probably just too biased towards one fighter.
On a side note - I personally believe that it was probably more of Bob Arums ego than anyone else, but I'm also realistic enough to know that it takes two to tango...
Personally I don't think it was Arum that killed the fight... I don't like how Arum swings and distorts facts in the media but when you look at the statements made I think the fight simply fell apart because Manny did not want to take the tests within whatever many days before the fight because he thought it would weaken him. Arum was only supporting his fighters wishes in this case. Manny made a clear statement saying he didn't want the tests that close and thats that don't pin this on Arum.

im not a doctor but what i do know is the nevada commission says they dont test for eop or hgh, or blood doping or w.e that thing was called, and thats what some thought manny might be taken.. the only way they said you can catch is blood sicne the only postive results of both came from blood so far. so if you got a commission saying we dotn test for that stuff then ofcourse he will never test postive for any of those thigns. im no doctor but if you not testing for something you cant get caught .... not saying manny on those things but if he was he wouldnt get caught and neither will anybody else
