Nobody wants to see Pac vs Cotto or especially Pac vs Margacheato. We already saw what the difference was between Pac and Cotto. Do we really need to see this again? I don't care if they fight at Heavyweight, Pac beats Cotto. Margacheato better shut up and hope he don't, by some twist of fate, get lucky and get himself in a position of a megafight with Pac or Mayweather. Margarito is way too slow and will get beat up. He shouldn't even be fighting.

Is it hard to understand that an athlete of Manny's importance within the sport refuses to be cheated like a cheater when there is no basis? That's like asking Kobe Bryant to take tests right before the NBA finals. He's not gonna do it just because players from the opposing team can't take how good he is.

Bottom line, Manny doesn't have to take these tests but he will coz he wants fans to have the fight they want to see.

your bias is disgusting..cant believe i just wasted my time reading your garbage...fall off a cliff please...moms wont miss u..

Floyd must be laughing hi ass off if arum thinks he's using pac-cotto II to pressure Floyd in the negotiation. I mean, c'mon, Pac-Cotto II is just a replay of what happened before, only with a different belt.

                  BUT...

A rematch w/ Antonio would do big business. It's the only fight not involving Mayweather or Pacquiao that can sell a huge number of PPVs. Top Rank knows this and they will most likely do all they can to convince Miguel to take this fight for Sept or Oct for the 154 lb championship. They'll have a 24/7 that will EASILY be the most entertaining in a long time (a clear villain, revenge angle, high profile trainer and boxing staple Manny Steward, championship on the line, etc) and if they do it at a big stadium like Dallas or the new Meadowlands that would just add to the draw and luster. I could see it doing 800,000+ buys pretty easily (they did c. 500,000 last time out).

The second part of the equation is Pacquiao. Since it's clear the Mayweather clan wants nothing to do w/ him, he should wait until Marquez-Diaz II and if Floyd is still 'retired' by then, sign on to finally give JuanMa the rematch he's so desperately been seeking. Ariza said the plan for Manny/Floyd was to have Pac go up to 150+ and then dehydrate to 147. They should do that for JuanMa, who'll come in at 142ish. Knock him out in whatever stadium Cotto-Margarito doesn't stage their fight in, do 1 million+ buys.

The winner of Cotto-Margarito II takes on Pacquiao for the 154 lb title early next year, probably early May and Pac rides off into the sunset as the only 8 divisional champion in boxing history. And if Cotto wins against Margs, he'll reap the monetary benefits of close to 2 million buys of PPV revenue. Also Top Rank gets to stage 2 massive events this year and Pac's goodbye event next spring... and the fans get to see 2 back-to-back high profile slugfests in the fall.

                  Everybody wins in that scenario.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is: Cotto Margarito is not happening in a stadium, or anywhere else in the USA. No states giving Margo a license to fight; not even Nevada who live in Arum's hip pocket but apart from the drug testing scrutiny already going on, the backlash would be a b***h. Cotto vs Margo? Neither guy is a ppv star. Margo is relatively unknown outside the Mexican fight-fan demographic. That part of the general public thats got a whiff of Margo's penchant for plaster are not amused, nor will they choose to be entertained to the tune of 50 bucks.
Margarito's comeback ppv in his homeland Mexico, land of the rabid fight fans did all of 15000 buys. As for Cotto, Steward won't be able to resist giving him some private pointers on sparring with Arum as well. Miguel has not fared well in the stablemate matchups that Arum finds so financially favorable. It's a given that everyone will be watching Margo's wraps this time but also expect Cotto to advocate some scrutiny of Manny Pacquiao's prefight pillbox which might be a deal breaker. I agree in regards to Mayweather, he is not really in the Pac camp's plans. Mayweather has been clear: "random testing, not negotialble". Pac continues to proclaim that he's ready to fight Mayweather without ever sayin that he's ready to random test. Which means he either does not want to test, does not want to fight or both. That being the case, the best we can hope for boils down to Pac choosing to fight Cotto instead of Mayweather. In fairness to Pac, Cotto has regained some competetive viability with his win over Foreman. The villain /revenge angle remains intact since in the minds of many, Pac is to PED as Margo is to plaster. Cotto being the victem of both, the one being a white-collar version of the blue-collar bludgeoning at the mits of Margo. Lets hope the fight is as good as the storyline.

What? You mean if Mayweather didnt fight Pacquiao ?Manny is so desperate to fight Floyd thats why he agreed to a 14 days nonsense drug test.

Meaning if Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations fall apart yet again, then Pacquiao will end up fighting a Top Rank fighter.

at Pacquiao being "desperate" to fight Mayweather. Or vice versa.

Damn near anyone else around the division would fight Mayweather with USADA or WADA because they'd love the opportunity for the big payday and the exposure. Most fighters out there would face Pacquiao with no extra drug testing, or hell, in the case in Texas with Clottey, with no drug testing period. Pacquiao and Mayweather are two of the only guys around the division that are NOT desperate to fight each other, since both of them have played hardball so long on negotiations. Truly desperate fighters, who are from being in the position both Floyd ad Manny are, would've signed by now and given in to the demands long ago.

Floyd and Manny are the "shot-callers" so to speak, they have the status and name recognition, negotiating leverage, etc...It's the other people who cannot command 8 figure paydays and not at the top of the sport who are the desperate ones.
