Interesting. I'm not disagreeing with you, but can you elaborate? I'm not big on Berto but I haven't really seen to many flaws, so if you point them out, I can shut my brother up. I think Cotto's guard, jab, and body attack are to much for Berto. I hate when people say Cotto has a bad defense. He doesn't really bob and weave or slip, but his guard is incredibly tight, it's almost impossible to find an opening. To beat Cotto you would have to show a sustained barrage of punches from angles, if you smash a clam enough eventually it will crack and whats inside becomes very vulnerable. Break his defense and pressure him. Cotto seems to be a thinker, so take that away from him with pressure. If he can't think, he can't adjust. I don't think Berto can do that. I think Cotto should avoid Margarito, it's just a bad matchup for him. They should put a 'no-plaster' cause in the contract, just to mock that cheater.

i agree with this decision. cotto is one of the best and respected fighters out there.he's been through alot and if he's going to continue boxing then it won't hurt at all to have an experience head trainer in any fighters corner.great decision miquel and i wish you there best.

On the elite level I wouldnt say he has very good defense. I havent seen fighters having a problem touching him, Marg sure didnt, Corley didnt throw a barrage of punches, Clottey didnt have a problem finding him either.

I think it definitely wouldn´t hurt Cotto keeping Emmanuel on board. I liked him working the jab and seemed a little more disciplined.

Though, tough opposition, especially guys with a decent right hand will land big shots, if he keeps defending the way he does.

...not without Plaster he won't. Why are losers like you still in denial?

Shiiiiiiiit, I AM Mexican and I lost Respect for Margarito after the Mosley fight (I was at the Staples Center live rooting for Margarito). The fact is he was caught cheating, and coincidentally after they removed the plaster, HE got KTFO!!!! 2 facts you cant' deny something is up with Margarito! Go Cotto!!!

Cotto/Berto is a bad idea I think, not because he can't win, he would, but there just isn't enough money in it. He would be the main draw, on the guy who stepped out of the Mosley fight. If you ask a casual fan, they'll say who is Berto and the respone will simply be the guy who didn't fight Mosley. After the Mayweather beating Mosley's stock dropped massively. Personally if you want money and an easy fight its all about Chavez Jr. The name alone carries massive marquee power, he's already huge in Mexico, its PPV marketable. I think it'd due just as good as the Margarito/Cotto fight, that was 500k, I think it could surpass that. Its also a relatively easy fight for Cotto as Chavez isn't much of a fighter, he does however have more power than Foreman so it could also get Cotto used to stronger punching at the weight.

the flaws i see in berto are his conditioning, especially in his last fight, also against collazo,he does get hit a lot,and if collazo had any power he would have been down, just like a guy with power did it (cosme rivera),collazo looked tired too, combine that with collazos no power and that he got tired,i think cotto will beat him, like i said,i've never been impressed by berto,he's just fast, thats it,you can tell in a fighters expression when getting hit that they are feeling the punches, collazo hit him a lot and i can tell it affected him,now imagine someone who can take his punches and fire back?...i think guys like williams, martinez, cotto, margarito will beat berto,it seems like he'll beat the ranked guys but not the champs, the established fighters
