STFU!!! he might be a racist in between those ropes, but a class act out of them!! i see X ruffled some feathers with his i will never let a white boy beat me - so he got beat, moved on and won more matches - let that racist shyt go, you have no idea of racism untill it has been displayed against you - from a job, the police, ignorant drunk rednecks, store owners, and upscale neighborhoods, education, etc...you cannot throw that word around casually - it is an absolute belief not a casual one.
I agree wholeheartedly, nobody thinks anymore, they let people think for them.

If it's an "absolute belief, not a casual one", Bernard's definitely a racist since he went ahead and made those comments in public right?

      Moron.
Then Alan Minter's a racist also right?

I don't like Hopkins personality, his racist remarks "I won't let no white boy beat me!" and all that crap put me off for the last time. If I were Joe, I wouldn't fight him again either. Joe retired undefeated and happy and Hopkins is a bitter, angry old man.
Im sure Joe doesnt believe he's a racist.

Joe said something to the effect of "That racist isn't getting any more money form me" as his reason for not giving Hopkins a rematch.

first off when does white boy become a racist word??? i know of several rappers that call them self whiteboy!! and oh by the way they are white! I'm becoming more convinced that these are not just boxing fans on this site but actual boxers because some of you sound punch drunk !!! because hopkins said that he is a racist?? - did he call Calzaghe a honkey? a peckerwood? or a white devil?? " i ain't never losing to no honkey/devil" now that my friends would constitute him as being a racist, and my black ass would not support Bhop any longer - boxing unites nations, races, and creeds!! period! And next time someone quotes me, have your parents read my shyt before you post! "because hopkins said that it is absolute so he is racist"? you sound ****** as hell.... whiteboy ain't a racist word - what is absolute about whiteboy??? mexicanboy / puertorican boy / blackboy etc...

Learn your boxing history, you have no clue what you are talking about.

You're missing the point completely - it's not the specific word he used, it's the fact that he used the race at all. It suggests he believes he is better than any white man. Which for the record i don't think he does believe, nor do i think he's racist - he was just trying to sell the fight because he's a shrewd businessman. But he should still know better than to try and play on racial divisions, since we've had enough problems with that kind of thing to last many lifetimes

It was a historical statement, Hopkins was simply playing on previous history. Before Alan Minter, an English fighter, fought Hagler, Minter said he would never lose his title to a black man. Hopkins was simply revisiting history and those who realized it deemed it ingenious. He was in front of all English journalists who chuckled, no feathers were ruffled, Im sure many of them remembered the Minter statement and thought it clever.

I have to agree with you. Plus Hopkins can't never live that down when he stated he would never let a white boy beat him. Well Hopkins you did an not only that you showed you were a punk and didn't fight him. Instead you tried to get him disqualified by faking it like you were hit low. Calzaghe don't come back so Hopkins will have to live with that ****** ass statement the rest of his sorry ass life
