No, because he was chasing DLH for that money and fame to propel his no-name brand at the time. He also knew the time was right where a catchweight didn't matter. You talk about weight, but you leave the other factors behind that don't suit your self pleasures.
Try negotiating DLH to come down in weight for a megafight - it won't happen. Oops, Pacquiao did it. Nevermind.
If you don't see it yet, the reason why you're tired seeing catchweight fights between fighters or sizeable differences is because you love seeing someone at a disadvantage or advantage. Catchweights make well-matched fights more fair. Or did you drool when Mayweather hit 146 against lightweight Marquez? Oh, I bet you did.
I don't know about you, but catchweight or none, as long as the fight is good, I will support it.Last edited by spoonwars; 06-12-2010, 01:15 AM.Comment

Lately catchweights have been used to gain an advantage over another fighter not bridge a gap in weight. Simply a tool to tip the balance in their favor. Yet some of these fighters would only accept other fights at their preferred weight. That's what I call two faced hypocrites and double standard spewers. Makes you wonder what face they are giving.
What recent fight did the catchweight really make any sense chief?

He has fought plenty but I will not name just so you can selectively knock them down.
And the "right weight class" thing is funny to me. I guess circumstances have to be perfect for Floyd's opponents in order for him to get credit. Completely ignoring that 147 isn't Floyd's right/prime weight class either.Comment

Actually more top notch analysts believe Pacquiao lost to Marquez that what you are trying to insinuate. Even a large number of the fight analysts in his own country thought he lost II, but was given the decision due to his greater marketability.
Go take a look at his face and expression when the bell sounded. Also take a look at Freddie and Co to get an idea if they though the fight had been won.
