Very simple. He looked at Cotto's fight against Clottey and Cotto came in at 146. so he asked for 145. 1lb less.

Cotto could have easily said no and let's do it at 146 or 147 but he didn't.

Manny just doesn't want to fight with somebody who will have a huge advantage on weight on him.

Do you know how many times Ariza feeds him a day just so he can keep his weight up. He forces him to eat.

      Really?

Then why does he seems to always outweigh his opponents on fight night?

then he turned around and saw manny fight clottey, who's a bigger guy, at 147, not 145......4 months later.
Don't use that as an excuse. He didn't look drained come fight night. He came out and fought. He even caught Manny with a lot of good shots. It was just that Manny was better all around.

Are you talking about his fights at 147 or 140. If it's his fights at 140 yeah because 147 is not his natural weight.

I'm speaking in general. You said that he doesn't want ppl to have a huge weight advantage over him, hence the weight penalties? That correct?

IMO he probably felt the fight at 147 he was swimming in new waters. So yeah, he was a little hesitant if he can be the same fighter at that weight class. But once he beat Cotto, he didn't ask for that catch weight against Clottey cause he knew he was still effective at the weight.

manny wanted 142 or 143 and cotto suggested 145, stop making excuses for manny. the fact is he says he wont do ost because it is not done by the commission yet he makes weight penalties that are not under commission rules, can you just be real and admit it is hypocritical and a bogus excuse?
