You can't compare the two and it isn't your place to even judge. You do realize that Vitali is a professional fighter who has gone thru a hundred times more pain in his life than any normal man on earth. If a guy who gets punched in the face for a living couldn't take the pain don't sit here and try to play MR. Internet Tough Guy and get it in your head that even these athletes are in fact human.Comment

With millions of dollars on the line? I'm sorry but every single oilrigger, construction worker,or anyone who actually works hard for a living(I don't mean going to the gym.that's not working hard.working in 40 above & 40 below is working hard)has broken bones that didn't heal right or old or current injuries that are nagging but they make it to work so why can't a guy who makes millions of dollars & is winning the fight suck it up & play defence for 9 minutes? I have no respect for a guy who quits like that.if he was losing it's no big deal but for all those people who paid $$$ to see the fight & hbo to spend $$$ showcasing him...that's why vitali got crusified for years...its a hurt buisness. You can't compare the two and it isn't your place to even judge. A medical student rubgy team mate of mine, many years ago, used to have his shoulder dislocated REGULARLY, at almost every match, and very often more than once.
With at least 3 doctors on the team, it was always resocketed in short order, and if I remember correctly, he even fixed it himself on occcasion.
A rotator cuff is very different, and much more painful, in that the dislocation, I think, although initially painful, is very sudden and over, until being replaced, which is again painful, but over except for a bit of an ache.
A torn rotator cuff, even a small tear, is constantly painful since the arm can be, and usually does continue to be used, and moved around in the fight. The bigger the tear, the greater the pain. And also, you must expect people to have different levels of pain tolerance. Perhaps a torn cuff could be stoically endured whereas the same guy might be driven crazy by a toothache, ot faint at seeing blood. I'm using extreme examples but .......Comment

Boxing fans are ******, they think just because they spend a little cash on a fight that somehow they are entitled to having every fighter in the world fight till they fall down dead or else the fighter is a quitter. It's sad that in every other sport in the world retiring from a match due to injury is not looked at as bad thing. But in boxing fans can see a fighter take a horrendous beating and if he quits on his stool "oh he's a quitter"! It's disgusting and one of my biggest pet peeves about boxing.
What are you still doing on these forums? Sherdog calls for you.Comment

Have you ever had a torn rotator cuff or are you just assuming the intricacies of it?
If you ever have one I think you'll find that for the most part your movement is fine, but it's particular angles that are agony - specifically moving the arm UPWARDS beyond parallel with the floor.Comment
