You must be kidding....Listen and learn. When old time greats will be talked about the names of Dempsey, Johnson, Jeffries, Joe Gans, Corbett, Tunney, Benny Leonard, Pep, Louis, etc will come up. When long past greats will be talked about you'll hear the names Hearns, Leonard, Holyfield, Bowe, Hagler, Monzon, Prior, Arguello Camacho etc. mentioned, and when modern greats are the subject for discussion, one of the first names you'll hear about will be CALZAGHE. You'll even hear about Augustus, not forgetting Hamed, Barrera, Morales, Mayweather, Hatton and Pacquiao. Gatti and Ward will be con****uous. I'm tired............

No, Calzaghe has an excellent "crowd pleasing" style. It was the combination with Hopkins' crude grappling and butting which didn't mesh into an exciting fight. If Hopkins had been auditioning for Theatre Playhouse, his outrageous shennanigans might have been tolerated, but as it was, He always got far too much leeway from referees, Judges and particularly "fans". I emphasize "fans" because it boggles the mind of a genuine boxing enthusiast, how ANYBODY, can mistake the primitive, wrestling, fouling, rabbit-punching, butting clutching octopiddler, like Hopkins, for a real "purveyor of the Noble Art of Self Defence".

He won't comeback because he knows he truly can't hang in there with tough, talented, skilled fighters in their prime. Never could.
Another "expert". Heavens save us from such experts. Calzaghe beat an unbeaten highly regarded champion up. As for Kessler, after an even first 4 rounds, Calzaghe ran away with it, in v ery high gear that Kessler just had no answer for. Andneither had the other 45 of his opponents. What's the matter with you guys?? Don't you appreciate masterly skills??

I do, and i don't know or care about Calzaghe any more than I care about the measles. It's as aboxer I;m jedging him, nothing else.

It would be a ****ty fight and Joe would add nothing to his legacy by beating Bhop again. Good move.

I have to admit that Calzaghe's legacy has gone downhill a little since his retirement. Kessler went on to get almost shut out by Ward, Lacy had a string of embarressing fights where he got a few gifts, Roy got KOed by Danny Green in 1 round...
Hopkins still seems a decent win, but even Hopkins' win over Pavlik is looking less impressive considering the kind of damage Martinez was able to do to him, and Hopkins is looking pretty awful nowadays.

Calzaghe's only win that is actually looking better with time is Sakio Bika.

You have to respect him for keeping his word and being honest about not being hungry anymore. Hopefully if Floyd retires undefeated after/if he beats Pacquiao and whoever else(hopefully Martinez) he retires and never comes back.

Jones should have retired after his first fight with Tarver but his pride made him give Tarver a rematch because critics said Tarver should have gotten the decision the first time. Now 7 losses in...

Yeah, that's too bad Calzaghe's lack of opposition is starting to bite him in the butt now. People will always bring up his 20 whatever title defenses in SMW and his undefeated record but hardcore boxing fans will ask "who has he fought?".

If he decides to comeback, a win against the Super 6 winner and Chad Dawson/Lucian Bute would almost certainly erase his lack of opposition before his retirement.

                    Ward or Dirrell
                    &
                    Bute or Dawson

Beat two of those 4 right now and nobody can tell him anything.
