Klitschko's "eye" was not touched in the fight, his eyebrow was cut, but contained, and did not hinder him. The doctor was either a fool, or, as has been said, may have bet on Lewis.

Diva Haye has a yeast infection, she will never get in the ring with a Klitschko. In terms of Lewis, he promised a rematch on live television in front of millions but after his mother met Vitaly and "saw something in his eyes", he backed out and retired just so he wouldn't have to face Vitaly again. Lewis decided it was better to be like the yellow Haye than face the monster VK - true story. Now Lewis is content to call up every one of VK and WK's opponents and try to give them advice on how to "beat" them, even though he never really "beat" one himself.

You can tell he is still bitter about being forced to retire like that by VK, otherwise why would he call up Sanders, Johnson, Brewster, Byrd, and a bunch of others and give them "tips"? It's not like he is related to any of them. He would to get back into the ring but not with Vitaly and Wlad ruling the division with iron fists....

Yeah -- Lennox is likeable enough, but he's no saint. He's done some questionable things like abandoning the country he learned to box in and won an Olympic medal for to become a faux "Brit" (yes I know he was born there). He's far more Canadian than he is British: the guy who taught him everything about boxing in Kitchener, Ontario died a heartbroken drunk after Lennox abandoned Canada.

I was also irked by his wanting to beat a Klitschko by proxy. He doesn't know how to outbox a Klitschko, just how to cut one. He took a hellacious beating himself against Vitali and was lucky to survive--a point borne out by his wavering and ultimate reluctance to give VK a rematch. If he still wants a Klitschko that bad, he should get in the ring and DIY.

It is a damn shame, both brothers are ambassodors for boxing and to sport in general. PhDs, fluent in 4 languages, two brothers who are champions at the same time - what an amazing sport story... In terms of them being boring, hell they much more intersting than Floyd and get the knockout almost every time, while acting like normal likeable human beings. You almost have to wonder at US audience's appetite for circus shows, trash talking, and bad behavior. Is that what the Klitschkos have to do to get a wider appeal in the US? It seems unless they **** or assault someone, they are not going to get the recognition they deserve with the casual American fan/critic...

Excellent observations. First Ali with his non-stop trash talking and later Mike Tyson with his freak show personal life seemed to convince many Americans that this is what a heavyweight champion is: hence the elevation of Ali and the demotion of Rocky Marciano in mythological terms. The Klitschkos are good and decent people like the Rock was, and that's not in style these days. Maybe if Wlad got busted carrying a gun into a nightclub and Vitali was discovered to be a kingpin in the Russian mob.....

I thought the timing of the stoppage was a bit fortunate for Lewis, but one can't argue that it wasn't a horrible wound.

You memory must be hazy, let me refresh it for you: Lewis did not set out to fight VK, he was planning to fight Johnson and only after Johnson got injured did VK step in. Lewis dropped the belt BEFORE all that, so he ducked Byrd to face Kirk Johnson?

He ducked Byrd and dropped the belt so he wouldn't have to face him, bottom line.

I was 100% sure you would come back with this, but bottom line is, he fought Vitali in the end, he accepted that fight, so it means he wanted a good challenge, and Byrd wouldn't have given it to him

I agree haye i dont think will beat vitali he is the best of the best in the HW division. For me he clearly beat Lennox Lewis on point and lewis was scared for a rematch and retired. Haye isnt as good as Lewis. He should fight Wlad he has a chance because of his weak chin.

one guy in Boxingscene, mohammad or something, argued that if Haye decided to avoid the Klitchs and fight someone else or that if Haye fights the Klitchs 2 years after he was first challenged, is not ducking but just looking for tune up fights. Tune up, my ass. If haye ducks the kiltchs, then he's a duck, the same way if Khan avoids the proper challenge in 140, he's a duck. tune up is for beginners and not for title holders, they are not ready for a real fight!
