it's a good matchup, but bute should stay at smw until he gets the super six winner. it'd be a shame to see him draining himself for such a big fight.
What do you guys think about this fight: Lucian Bute vs Zsolt Erdei at 175?

He actually fought around 178lbs for his cruiserweight fight and is supposedly back campaining at 175. Last article on him, which I posted above, said he was just looking for the right fight money wise. Bute will get him more money than anyone I can think of at the moment, so I could defiantly see him biting if offered.Comment

Zsolt is kind of a hero of mine. He freely he admitted he didn't want to take on the best challengers and was satisfied with the paydays he got.
I mean that's the way I approach my work (doesn't usually work out that way though).
It's like Zsolt is the honest, common man.
Not going for glory, but a nice paycheck the easiest way possible.Comment

It's true. Bute's resume is terrible but for some reason he gets a pass on it.
Every opponent he has fought the past 3 years has been a low skill, limited slugger who was perfectly handpicked to make Bute look good.
It's no surprise they want Pavlik next, he fits the pattern of Team Bute picking out guys who can't get out of the way of any punch.
Bute also likes picking on guys who are not natural supermiddleweights.
Joppy, Miranda, Pavlik...
Erdei on the other hand gave up 20lbs to Fragomeni and is (as far as my research can tell) the lightest man to hold the Cruiserweight Title at 178 lbs.Comment

Like I said above, Erdei is likely to become the mandatory challenger to the Pascal-Dawson winner based on his ranking with the WBC.
Of course as I also said above, if Dawson wins (which is almost 100%) then he is likely to vacate his belt before fighting Erdei (US TV won't televise it).
Therefore I think the likely scenario is this:
Dawson beats Pascal and then vacates the title to face Cloud for the IBF title.
Erdei then fights for the vacant WBC title against either Pascal or Cleverly.
Win or lose Erdei retires after that fight.Comment

Zsolt was in some classics also. His last fight with Fragomeni was excellent.Comment

Erdei is in fact a cherry-picking SOB. He probably has no desire to leave Germany.
But he would destroy Bute if they were to ever meet.
If the fight were negotiated, it would not take place. Erdei has zero name-recognition in North America and is a dangerous opponent. Bute probably wont leave Canada either. Wouldn't happen, even hypothetically.Comment

Only because of the Super 6 giving him a convenient excuse to get away with fighting journeymen for 3 years straight.
If there were no Super 6 I guarantee you that Bute would not get in the ring with Ward or Dirrell.
In fact I bet he would not fight anyone from the Super 6 at all unless they bend over for Bute and agree to fight in Quebec.Comment

I don't think the Americans would have went to Germany to fight him though.
I mean I doubt they would. It seemed like only second tier guys go there, even though first tier guys would've gotten great paychecks.
I don't know how much that was the fault of Universum, but it seems they played a role in keeping Zsolt safe for sure.
And yes, Zsolt beat Fragomeni in a nice fight.Comment
