Im always surprised that people underrate Chavez's combination punching ability. He wasnt very fast(in fact, in terms of physical gifts he was unremarkable other than his iron head), but his combos were so accurate and cleverly placed. these werent just flurries, they were planned, accurate punches that found their way through a fighter's defense. The combos he landed on Terrance Ali were simply shocking, like when he would quintuple his left hand and land every punch. nasty.

I dont know anything about Chavez as a person....hes probably a jackass...but as a fighter, he is one of my favorites, and one of the most skilled Ive ever seen.

btw, I dislike how people get physical gifts and skill mixed up. Theye totally different things.

Exactly right, your whole post was on point. But, I especially like the bold. I been saying that for awhile now. I don't get why the majority does that. Green K sir.

Many people think that looking flashy in the ring with hand speed and footwork makes you better than the other fighter (like Chavez). Chavez's skill are really underrated and I just wish more people would appreciate him. No longer than last night, one of my friends told me that Chavez is so overrrated, has only fought taxi cab drivers.

Oscars defence is underrated. But he fought at range compared to the much more pressuring style of Chavez.
I think Chavez had very good reflexes and slipped punches brilliantly for such an offensively minded fighter.
Oscar always looked stiff and robotic in comparison, but didnt get hit much.

I dont think there is much to separate their defences.

Id also say Chavez was the better two fisted fighter. Oscar would flurry, but his right was never that great.

What do you expect when the entire entertainment industry sells people on the myth that only black people know how to sing, dance, fight, and are always the beter Athletes because they always "look" the coolest.

That point of view is just as skewed as the myth that 50 years ago that black athletes were to dumb to play against white athletes.

That myth about black athletes was bul**** then just like it's bull**** now.
