Ike tagged him up pretty good, so did Mosley, so did Oba Carr...heck, Derrell Coley had him hurt! Matter of fact, save for the Tito fight, I can't think of a fight where Oscar exhibited good defense. Chavez was very adept at slipping and rolling, particularly on the inside. Better jab? Definitely. Maybe footwork although that's debatable.
De La Hoya showed good parrying and blocking defense against Mayweather. I thought both guys showed good defense, but crappy offense.

I wasn't a big fan of Chavez when he fought, I usually rooted against him, but he was a great fighter. Chavez was very skilled. Having skills isn't just being flashy and fast and moving around the ring. Cutting off the ring is a skill. Chavez was very good at that. Throwing accurate combinations is a skill. Creating and exploiting openings is the main idea of combination punching, and Chavez did that great. He mixed it up well to both the body and head. He was no defensive whiz, but he slipped shots and rolled with them effectively. The fact that it took him 90 fights to get dropped wasn't only because of his chin and abnormally sized cranium. It was also because he was far from a punching bag either.

He is disrespectful, dirty, and a quitter in the ring. I loved seeing him bleed and getting nailed left and right from De La Hoya. Mexican fans that support him are just nationalistic pricks. There is nothing great about being a punching bag and brawling. This guy had no respect for his opponents even when he got his ass beat and I refuse till my death to ever give this guy any respect. Straight up scum bag.
JCC had a big ego, just as most great champions
if you hate JCC for this, you must hate a whole lot of great champions

As a person i think he is a funny idiot he drinks too much and the ******* has him unbalanced, and the **** that comes out of his mouth is hilarious especially as a commentator. He is not a formal speaker like JMM Rafa, MAB. Now as a fighter ATG mexican fighter and one of the best fighters i've ever seen lace it up and i salute him and has nothing to do with being mexican. His record speaks for itself.

In terms of resume it's not even close.

I would say Oscar was faster, better jab and better left hook. Everything I agree with you. Look, don't get me wrong I'm a huge JCC fan, he's one of the greatest fighters ever IMO.

I also just don't want to trash DLH though, he's a great fighter as well. Not on the level as JCC but he's no slouch.

I also think DLH resume is pretty damn good and he fought farther out of his weight class as well, you have to take that in consideration.

Chavez is a much better fighter agreed, I just don't want to make DLH look like some bum that we shouldn't even be comparing him to.

I hear you, bud. De La Hoya is a HOF'er in his own right but he doesn't compare to Chavez in any way, shape or form. Hell, Razor Ruddock had a better hook than Chavez. Means little. Overall, Chavez was more skilled and had a far, far greater resume. It's not even close.
