Does anyone think Devon Alexander is being a bit overhyped?

I don't think he is overhyped. It will be nice to see him in against Kotelnik considering we have already seen how Khan and Maidana fared against Kotelnik.

Exactly. They see one fight and think he's this huge puncher and amazing boxer. But many aren't familiar with how he failed to KO DeMarcus Corley, and struggled against a guy who took a fight against him on two weeks notice. Seriously, if you pay attention to the guy's fights, he's not as complete as everyone thinks he is. Outside of his jab and uppercut, what does he present that's really so much greater than everyone else's? And he's not a huge puncher either. Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan are both bigger punchers than he is. And I love how Alexander fans say Bradley is overrated, when Bradley's resume is better than Alexander's. How much more can you contradict yourself?

I actually downloaded Alexander vs. Corley; definitely not the puncher people on here make him out to be. Not once did he hurt Corley.

Corley was coming off 3 losses as well i think.

I don't really see what he had done to be ahead of Khan right now resume wise.. they are fairly similar. Bradley is head of the pack atm even though i don't like the direction he is headed.

I don't know...I'd say Alexander is slightly ahead of Khan resme wise. Urango would beat the current Malignaggi (imagine Paulie vs a bigger Juan Diaz with power) and Witter already beat Kotelnik. And the current Corley and Salita are about even. Plus if Alexander beats Kotelnik impressively, his resume will definitely be better.

At this point, Khan's resume will never pass Alexander's or Bradley's unless he faces one of them, or Ortiz (although GBP wouldn't let that fight happen).

Before i comment further i just want to say that ive had the pleasure of talking to both Devon and Khan in the past so i in no way am bias toward either fighter in a personal level.

I honestly have to agree with you OP, for this reason. Devon was given his shot at Junior Witter whom he soundly defeated, but most of us forgot one thing. Junior Witter was 36 and weight drained as well to be fighting at 140. Nonetheless, i celebrated and congratulated Devon on his victory. His next fight coming year later was against Crude puncher but Two-time world champion Juan Urango. Urango had previously been in a life or death match against Randall Bailey and had come back to win. With one hook, Devon was given a victory Via KO, and that i think is where the Hype Started to skyrocket. Don't get me wrong, i feel that Devon seriously has a chance to become Boxing's next heir to the throne but people are giving him way to much credit for just only 20 fights. If anyone should be respected, its Don King for his match ups. Now, as he is taking on Andreas Kotelnik, i am actually excited, because this gives me a chance to see how he will fair with an Iron Chinned man like Kotelnik with a pinpoint guard. If we were to speak Resume wise, Both Bradley and Khan (yes i said it) have him beat. Let's just see what the next coming months hold for us before we start labeling Devon as the next Big thing.

I have stayed out of most of the topics that involve Devon, only cause when I post facts on why Bradley is the man at 140, it gets ignored.

But I agree with you Dominicano.

On A Side Note: Shots out to Coach Webb, and Burner!! Only cause they were the first posters I saw speaking about Devon for awhile. Then after Floyd said that Devon would be the next P4P king, there was a flood of Devon supporters (mostly from the Floyd side of things)...Funny how that happens.

The kid is so unbelievably overrated it's ******ed.

He scores a big KO calls out the top dog in the division, and people are just so eager to call someone out for ducking. It's like since Floyd stepped up and fought Shane those same people need to fill a void so they started bitching about Bradley ducking a guy who has one, maybe 2 good wins in his career.

I like Alexander, I think he's the goods. But people are going crazy over the guy.

The funny thing is, most of the Devon fans who are trashing Bradley are Mayweather fans, and they're contradicting themselves because Bradley is doing EXACTLY what Floyd has been doing throughout his entire career.
