Funny. That's what they called boxing at one point in time.

Boxing got to the point it is after 100yrs. WWE got where it is after 100yrs. NFL got where it is after 100yrs. Soccer got where it is after 100yrs. You expect MMA to have dudes with 100+ wins and be the greatest thing since sliced bread after 10yrs? Nah, I like MMA and I don't even expect that.
Not expecting that, but it just seems they hype and build up fighters too quick.

I'm not sure if it's because the sport isn't as well established, or if that's just how they want to do business - hype people up and cash in as quick as they can.

Boxing is the total opposite. Many veteran MMA fighters have less than 20 wins, whereas a boxer with 20 fights is still just an up and comer.

MMA's mass popularity will grow as the general skill level and exposure grows - consider that there are basically no current fighters who began specifically training for the sport from childhood. In the US boxing's mass popularity will never again be what it was in the 50s or 70s, but I don't think it will suffer any decline either - it will rise and fall as dominant individual figures emerge. Internationally I predict boxing's popularity will continue to grow.

MMA has no where to go but up. It will continue to grow and continue to grow. Because no matter what, people will pay to a see a fight and no matter what people will practice Martial Arts.

So regardless of what you boxing extremists say, MMA is here and it will always be here.

They both have bright futures but I notice one thing about the two. Boxing fans kill boxing themselves by never accepting that the newer fighters can be better than the past boxers. Boxing is the ONLY sport where the athletes get worse instead of better.
very true. hate it when people praise the old timers like they're unbeatable. all sports are developing and athletes getting better
