ali was a lot worse there than most 38 year olds, but it's still a good point. lots of talented fighters are losing to journeymen by their late 30s.
Ali at 38 years old ( vitali's age )

Did you just compare Sobnowski to Larry Holmes?
Did you just compare Vitalit to Ali in any way shape form or fashion? The only thing Vitali and Ali have in common is that they boxed for a living.
you damn rightComment

Yeah but don't compare today's 38 to Ali's 38. The numerous wars, the lackluster preparation (in comparison anyway), no bum tuneups, nearly everyone Ali fought is an ATG by today's standards, the nutrition... You can't really compare. Would someone like Bernard Hopkins be fighting and winning at the level he was fighting a few years ago over 40 years of age, in Ali's era? I don't really think so...Comment

No bum tuneups? 90% of ali's career were bum fights lol. But yeah I mostly agree.Yeah but don't compare today's 38 to Ali's 38. Theres just something about old boxers I can't stand to watch them. I hated how duran fought into his 40's.Comment

38yro Ali beats Vitali in only 3 regards:
1) The amount of Parkinson (no wonder with such a crappy defense)
2) The amount of trashtalk and racism ("All ***s and gentiles are devils... Blacks are no devils...")
3) The amount of overweight. (Mu-HAM-mad was the Sam Peter of the 70ies, had to lose 40 lbs for the fight with Holmes). Ali was only really slim when he boxed as a cruiser (= below 200) and sub-cruiser (= Olympics).
Vitali wouldn't be allowed to fight FIFTY percent of Ali's opponents because they would be either too light (Floyd Patterson, 188lbs) or too handicapped (featherfist Frazier was blind on his left eye) or it would be simply a disgrace (6-0 bum Leon Spinks).
And I didn't even start to compare Ali's non-existent KOratio or his dirty behaviour in the ring ("Dirty Clay").
And instead of giving me Red K, you should try to disprove me on a FACTUAL basis.Last edited by knn; 05-29-2010, 07:11 PM.Comment
