Where does a fight of this magnitude get ranked in your opinion of the "biggest fights" in the sport.
IMO I say yes. Mayweather and Pacquiao arent just the two biggest boxers in the world. They are two of the most popular "people" in the world period.
In the internet age, 24/7, promos and all the other stuff that will happen. This fight is the biggest IMO. Just when the two camps are negotiating boxing fans go crazy.
I think if they ever fight, the negotiations for both fighters should have a rematch clause, 1 fight would not be enough to see who is the best, best of 3 would be sufficient! and it makes sense, they will make twice as much money if they have a rematch and more if it turns into a trilogy

My Dad said its bigger than Tyson-Holyfiels which is why I made the thread and he said thats the craziest fight build up hes ever seen.Originally posted by The Comedian View Postabsolutely not Louis-Schmelling the world stopped for that fight.Originally posted by 2501 View PostBurner, the was global significance in Louis/Schmeling because of the the war. It was as if it was being fought inside of that ring. We're talking about a time when Boxing was possibly the biggest mainstream sport. Cmon now.
Ali-Frazier the first fight, one nation was also huge. With the civil right movement, Ali refusing to get drafted, Ali coming back from being wrongfully stripped of his crown. Both guys undefeated, both guys having a case for being the true HW champion of the World, I mean it was huge as well.

I dont think there is ever going to be a fight that boxing can hang its hat on and say everything else is below it , this fight because of the drama , the individuals , national pride , the internet age and advert of PPV to the masses nothing has come close to the revenue and world interest that this fight brings . its the biggest fight from what I can see and Im 55 and been a fan of boxing since I was 12 , I remember Ali Frazier like yesterday it was not as big as this fight is today in its day , it got bigger as Ali did , long after he finished boxing , its seems the old days always get better and old fighters grow bigger with time , while the today gets taken for granted .
